Maharashtra Sales Head

This is a senior management role reporting directly to the Managing Director to lead Desta’s vast rural marketing and distribution channel in Maharashtra. Desta has products in agriculture inputs, agriculture implements, energy, mobile banking, and education.

Responsibilities:

- Have complete PnL responsibility of Desta’s Rural Channel in Maharashtra

- Lead sales team in 10-15 districts in Maharashtra consisting of 25-30 field staff with 5 zonal managers

- Lead expansion of Desta into new districts in Maharashtra

- Ensure sales, logistics and cash collection processes are followed

- Implement marketing processes in Desta’s operating areas

- Conduct audit of district offices

- Train sales staff

- Establish and maintain a high level of service for Desta’s village managers

Preferred Qualifications:

- Need to have at least three years’ experience in leading rural sales team in an agriculture inputs company

- Prior business leadership and PnL responsibility experience is preferred

- First hand sales experience in rural areas of agriculture inputs is preferred

- (Very) Strong analytical and problem solving skills required

- B.Sc Agriculture is a must (or a background in agriculture)

- MBA from a top rural management school is preferred

- Should have exceptional communication skills

- Need strong family support to excel in such a fast paced startup

- Unquestionable integrity and dedication to the cause of Desta to increase income of customers on a large scale

- Willingness and commitment to put in necessary hours and years to build a successful organization

Location: Mumbai

Travel: 50%-75%

Compensation: Competitive. Compensation would be in cash and stock. Compensation cannot be the primary driver. We are looking for leaders who can grow with the organization for many years to come.
