Our client, a global payments consulting firm, is working on a significant project to upgrade their merchant acquiring risk management system. They are looking to refine the risk policies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices. The primary objective is to strengthen the client's risk control and management strategies to mitigate financial and legal risks associated with merchant acquiring processes.

To support with this initiative, they are seeking a highly experienced Risk Policy Manager specialising in writing/deploying/ managing merchant acquiring risk policies.

The role requires a deep understanding of risk management policies within the merchant acquiring sector, aiming to support the client's comprehensive risk management project.

Key Responsibilities:

- Developing Risk Management Strategies: Craft and implement risk control strategies to minimize financial and legal impacts on the client's merchant acquiring operations

- Policy Design and Review: Design and review acquiring risk policies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and client-specific inputs

- Stakeholder Liaison: Collaborate closely with the client's risk, operations, compliance teams, and relevant third parties to ensure comprehensive risk policy development

- Supporting Risk Strategy Development: Assist client teams in formulating and finalizing risk strategies and policies, providing expert guidance and recommendations

- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation, conduct gap analyses, and generate reports to support risk management efforts and policy compliance

Your Background:

- At least 10 of relevant experience in writing/deploying/ managing merchant-acquiring risk policies

- A subject matter expert with knowledge of the financial services industry, including its governing regulations, reporting procedures, and record keeping guidelines

- Exceptional stakeholder management, project management and collaboration skills

- Be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills, with strong presentation and communications skills are essential

- Understand current market trends and developments pertaining to risk management principles

- Experience of working in Bank / Payment aggregator firm or intermediary background

This is a contractual opportunity and will be on an initial 9-month contract with room for further extension. This project is based out of Mumbai, and the selected consultant would need to be onsite for the entirety of the project duration.
