Risk - Model Validation Analyst

MODEL VALIDATION ANALYST JOB DESCRIPTION

Role Summary:

Model validation analyst will be required to provide an independent perspective on various credit risk models such as (but not exclusive) PD, LGD, EAD. The insights and recommendations needed vary from case to case encompassing regulatory, diagnostic and benchmarking aspects of modeling process and model performance.

Furthermore, analyst is also expected to provide exhaustive report of his/her findings from the model validation both in technical terms for the modeling teams and in business context for senior management.

Lastly, model validation analyst is required to perform analysis on large datasets if required for providing any additional supporting insights during the model validation.

Key responsibilities:

Model validation analyst key responsibilities include -

1. Work with all the stake holders - modelers, management, external consultants, analysts, to collect the required data, documentation and insights for any given model validation scenario and set the objective and end outputs of the model validation

2. Perform thorough analysis questioning all the assumptions by looking through various angles - statistical, business, risk, marketing, operational

3. Document all the findings in a clear, deductive way

4. Communicate the findings to senior management, modeling teams, or any other stake holders with appropriate

Skills required:

A thorough understanding of the regulatory requirements pertaining to capital management and credit risk, e.g. Basel III

Educational background of higher level statistics that is required to develop and analyze advanced statistical models - Concepts related to Regression techniques, machine learning techniques

Working knowledge with all major database systems and statistical software: SQL, SAS, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access

Demonstration of very good written and oral communication skills

Experience:

4 - 6 years of relevant experience with reputed consulting firm and experience in leading projects in the area of model validation
