Client : A global services company focused in electronic payments standing tall for the past 25 years is launching the state-of-art digital payments platform that combines best of technology, payment innovation and domain expertise in context to the Indian market. The initiative has been an entrepreneurial venture within the wider organization which is looking to hire key professionals on the business side as it gets ready for the platform launch. An ideal opportunity for someone who is entrepreneurial and believes in making things happen by not only providing strategic direction, but also leveraging his experience and expertise in execution, if required.

Location : Kolkata

Experience : 8 to 12 yrs.

Qualification : Graduate / MBA - Finance, ICWA, CA inter.

Role :

The client is looking for a passionate, energetic and self-motivated individual to head the Merchant & Transaction Risk. As a payment gateway business, the business would be exposed to a fair bit of risk. The head of this team will not only be instrumental in managing this risk at all levels but also provide valuable insights on strategic business planning. This role brings in the best of both worlds - a start-up and big stable organization.

Responsibilities/ Job Description :

- Define the strategic roadmap for Merchant and Transaction Risk Management for the digital payments platform.

- Own Merchant and Transaction risk for the digital payments platform and manage to keep the risk levels below thresholds. This would entail handling the risk related to acquiring business and evaluating the merchant enrolment, conducting merchant training for new sign ups and life cycle management activities like periodic monitoring of merchant audits and timely informing the merchant on any change in policy and process.

- Define optimal controls to manage the fine balance of controlling risk without causing significant loss of business.

- Manage the policies & processes part in an end-to-end manner. Frames policy, guidelines & formats.

- Interact with merchants on a day to day basis to facilitate easy risk management for them and guide them in their processes for superior experience.

- Liaison with Visa, MasterCard, other issuing/Acquiring Banks & Law Enforcements Agencies on fraud related issues. Engage with banks and merchants for resolving all the chargeback disputes in a timely manner. Investigate and evaluate genuineness of customer disputes and accordingly provide recommendation for claim processing.

- Work with risk engineering and product teams to develop tools required for better risk monitoring.

- Bring insights on the current trends in the industry and ensure our risk processes are best in class and above par with the competition.

- Define, review & analyse Daily and Monthly MIS/ dashboards for efficient monitoring and risk reporting to various stakeholders (merchants, banks, senior management, functional teams).

- Build a stellar risk team and provide regular training to the team on fraud trends and manage their attrition.

- Provide the risk perspective and insights for strategic management discussions to identify new business opportunities

Qualifications :

- 7 to 10 years of experience in acquiring risk management with a large bank or payment gateway is required

- Demonstrated capabilities as an individual contributor and also as a team leader in the past.

- Graduate from a Tier 1 college; MBA from Tier 1 colleges or specialization in risk domain such as FRM would be an added advantage

- In-depth knowledge on acquiring risk management, card association rules and regulations is preferable

- Hands on experience in transaction risk monitoring tools such as cyber source, PRM is required

- Ability to perform under tight deadlines and produce measurable output

- Adept at thinking on feet and finding solutions to complex problems

- Strong analytical mind set with a bend for data and attention to detail

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
