The primary role of the Research Analyst is to research information on people, companies and trends in a practice (industry/function) segment based on the requirements of Consultants and Associates worldwide. This could be to support of business development opportunities and/or search execution efforts. The role would involve dealing directly with the search teams to determine timelines and scope. This position reports directly to the Practice Support Group Leader and is located in New Delhi, India
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Uses primary and secondary resources to research companies, industries and identify executives. Gathers raw information from a broad range of resources; organizes, analyzes and synthesizes the findings into an appropriate end product. E.g.:
- Analyzing the issues and opportunities a company faces and related human capital trends
- Analyzing the trends on an industry and relating it to business development and human capital trends
- Leads calls with search teams (internal clients) via phone to understand specifics of research request. Identifies key issues, shapes expectations through discussion and successfully delivers an appropriate and timely research solution.
- Undertakes “hard to find” research requests as needed.
- Researches and prepares brief reports on select candidates to be interviewed proactively by search teams (internal clients).
- Partners closely with the Knowledge Manger and search teams (internal clients) to perform proactive and reactive research for business development and search execution.
- Provides guidance to junior analysts with kick-off calls and research requests as needed.
- Enters all data gathered into the system so that it can utilized real time by search teams and easily measured.
- Liaises with the Quality team within the KMC to clean companies, delete duplicates, etc., based on information found during the research process; to constantly improve the quality of the system.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Professional; possess high ethical standards.
- Driven by customer service.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- An inquisitive and investigative nature. Passionate about research.
- Good knowledge and understanding of business concepts such as strategy of companies, profitability of a firm, organizational structuring of the divisions, competitive landscape of a sector, trends within an industry etc.
- Strong analytical orientation and problem solving capability. Able to break down research requests into smaller components.
- Possess initiative, creativity and resourcefulness; a self-starter.
- Ability to negotiate and set expectations of research scope.
- Organize based on client urgency and detail-oriented; good time management ability.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and adapt quickly to the requirements of a face-paced environment.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Successful track record of working in a team
- Highly comfortable with MS Office programs.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
1 to 2+ years of full-time experience relevant to business research.
EDUCATION
An undergraduate degree is required.
Masters or MBA preferred.
