rePurpose Global - Director - Technology

About the Role

As a rapidly growing social enterprise, rePurpose is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead, strategize, and execute on the entire suite of technology offerings at rePurpose Global. You will be working closely with the rePurpose founding team to conceptualize and develop technology products across all aspects of our impact platform. A significant part of your role will be product-focused and ownership-oriented, i.e. you will be responsible for implementing your creative vision and delivering on projects from start to finish by directly building and leading a team of talented, full-time team members who will execute under your guidance. In addition to strategy, product development and project management, you will also be leading your own independent projects in order to professionalize and prepare our entire technology suite for an intense period of growth in the next 2+ years.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Shape the technology vision for rePurpose Global and chart out their product roadmap.

2. Lead all Product Development efforts right from need-finding and identifying problems, to conceptualising tech-based solutions, to architecting and building tech products, and continually testing and iterative refining products.

3. Build impactful technology products for the notoriously low-tech waste management sector, enabling plastic waste recovery & generating ethical livelihoods. Some examples: Inclusive systems for collecting and tracking data from day-to-day waste management operations, adapted to local contexts of informal waste sectors in the Global South Blockchain-based Plastic Credit registry for creating & uniquely allocating Credits Apps to integrate with payment providers and e-commerce stores to enable micro-donation round-ups for creating impact through Credits.

4. Recruit, motivate and manage the ideal technology development team for rePurpose.

Must-have skills:

1. Hands-on leader with a strong blend of business and technical savvy as well as strategic.

2. Thinking and tactical execution.

3. Proven understanding across the entire technology product development pipeline keeping UX at the heart of building web applications.

4. Working knowledge across diverse technologies, preferably MEAN/MERN or Java technologies.

Nice-to-have:

1. Experience in a start-up/scale-up environment.

2. Experience working in a global team.
