Purpose of the role:

We are looking for a dynamic hands-on Techno-Managerial Data Engineering Leader to provide robust technical leadership across all facets of our Data Engineering and Data Science team. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, effectively communicating with stakeholders and customers to ensure the appropriate utilization of our company's technologies. Strategic thinking is essential in this role, requiring familiarity with current technology trends and various business concepts. The individual will be responsible for advising on business strategy, innovation, and enterprise change, incorporating technologies such as cloud platforms, SaaS, PaaS, and Big Data to position RateGain at the forefront of technology. Additionally, they will serve as an auditor for Product Engineering.

Requirements:

Deep Understanding of Data Engineering:

- Expertise in designing and implementing ETL processes and data pipelines.

- Solid understanding of data modeling, database design, and data warehousing principles.

- Demonstrated strong understanding of microservices architecture and its application in data engineering.

- Thorough understanding of cloud architecture, with a preference for Google Cloud Platform.

- Ability to assess the technology landscape for cloud suitability and develop a cloud adoption roadmap.

- Expertise in architecting, designing, and developing software applications using Microsoft and open-source technologies.

Data Pipeline Development:

- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to support business needs.

- Ensure the integrity, quality, and reliability of data flowing through the pipelines.

Data Architecture:

- Collaborate with data architects to design and implement optimal data structures and storage solutions.

- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance data processing capabilities.

- Management of cloud architecture implementations, including redesign, development, migration, and robust, secure, scalable, dynamic solution management to drive business objectives without disruptions.

Microservices Knowledge:

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of microservices architecture and its application in data engineering.

- Expertise in developing services using microservices architecture.

- Integrate microservices principles into the design and development of scalable and modular data solutions.

Team Leadership:

- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment across a growing development organization (Product, Engineering, Data Science, Design, and Program Management)

- Lead by example where appropriate in technical projects where you are hands on in development

- Provide technical guidance and support for the team, promoting professional development and growth mind-set

- Apply Design Thinking and Lean principles to achieve user outcome focused iterative development, as well as mentor these skills in team.

Performance Optimization:

- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in data pipelines, continuously optimizing for speed and efficiency.

- Implement monitoring and alerting systems to ensure proactive issue resolution.

Collaboration:

- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.

- Proven experience in analyzing and optimizing technical and business processes.

- Foster strong relationships with IT, software engineering, and other relevant teams

Qualification Summary:

Education:

- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field from Tier 1 college

Experience:

- 15-18 years of experience in building and leading world class technology team.

- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes

- Experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
