Qualifications

- BE / B. Tech (Full time).

- MBA will be an added qualification and will be given preference

Experience - Must have 10-15 years of experience with at least last 5 years in a Leadership role in manufacturing industry like machine tools, heavy industry, automobiles, foundries etc.

- Should have had experience in purchasing functions both domestic and imports

- Experience of purchasing copper, copper alloys, other non-ferrous alloys, graphite etc. will be a big plus.

Role Purpose:

- Lead and direct all purchasing, logistics, inventory management, material forecasting, capacity planning and sourcing, outsourcing and vendor management, inventory control and financial costing, as necessary for JIT materials support.

Key roles and responsibilities:

Strategic:

- Set Strategic direction for Purchase function and translate the strategy to specific plans to support the achievement of business goals and objectives to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations

- Strategize and oversee implementation of all Purchasing initiatives to enhance the performance of production and productivity

Operational:

- Collaborate with Marketing & Operations for requirement

- Participate in existing and new product planning processes to assure timely acquisition of materials to support new product development

- Identify process bottleneck in Purchase function and implement solutions in a timely manner

- Identify vendors and outsourced partners to support the production

- Set processes for periodic assessment/evaluation of vendors/outsourced partners

- Set processes for developing existing and new vendors

- Build and sustain relationship and communication channels with the main suppliers and resolve issues

- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to procurement.

- Monitor and ensure that the procurement, materials costs and expenses are kept within the budget limits

- Develop the back- up plan in case of sudden and foreseeable future stock outs and smart decision-making process to address the same backed by necessary commercial analysis.

- Develop checklist and control mechanism to ensure initiation, tracking, escalation and timely closure of various sub-processes in Purchase function.

- Monitor and take corrective action on process lapses, human errors and develop stronger internal checks and balances in Purchase function in line with the increase in volume and value.

- Ensure minimum inventory of materials is maintained as per requirement

- Review purchase orders for completeness and requisitions following the defined process

- Ensure maintenance documentation of all incoming material as per the PO

- Communicate and follow-up on quality issues with suppliers

- Follow up with suppliers for timely order fulfillment

- Prepare periodic reports on purchase activities

- Review procurement requests from departments and coordinate with HODs on technical specifications, inspection, delivery, etc. to ensure production requirements are met.

- Develop new contracts, analyze problems and provide solutions

- Develop innovative initiatives to enhance internal efficiencies and effectiveness

- Responsible for storage and maintenance of all documents for easy retrieval

- Estimate and establish cost parameters and budgets for purchases

- Ensure that the products and supplies are high quality

- Resolve supply, quality, service and invoicing issues with vendors

- Responsible for Capex Purchase order of the Organisation

- Responsible for Cost reduction in supplies through existing vendors or alternate vendors

- Responsible for adherence and implementation of Organisation's policies/standards in his/her team (administrative, HR, Quality)

- MIS, Reporting and Documentation:

- Responsible for reporting to COO on key issues of Purchase

- Responsible for documentation of all the processes and keep them updated
