Purchase Head - Rubber Raw Material Procurement

Position: Purchase Head

Experience: 15 Years +

Location: Mumbai Vasai

Qualification: Engineering Degree

Key Areas :

- Proficiency in meeting production plan supporting through timely procurement of RM / BOPs for multiple plants keeping in mind lead time, logistics and inventories at different plants.

- Experience in contract management including quarterly contracts and exposure in ERP (SAP).

- Experience in conceptualizing and effective cost saving measure through MIS

- Thorough knowledge of quality control parameters and ISO standards, knowledge of RM specifications to be able to interact with suppliers

- Effective communication and leadership skills, team management & analytical skills

Key Tasks Handled:

- Managing & enhancing purchasing strategies and supply chain process to meet business objectives and operational needs in terms of price, Quality & delivery targets, including, Material procurement planning, Inventory Management, Import activities, Scheduling, New vendor & part development, Monthly MIS, New part costing for customer RFQ, Packaging material, Consumables, Miscellaneous items etc.

- Ability to oversee and ensure procurement for multiple plants in the group, logistics and taxation issues

- Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process

- Procuring Bought out Parts (B.O.P) i.e. sheet metal parts, Nylon parts, Precision items, Bushes & Inserts etc.

- Handling all imported procurement of raw material like cold forging item, Rubber, Synthetic Rubber, EPDM Rubber, Yarn, Surface treatment chemicals, Rubber molding tool etc.

- Procurement of Polymer like EPDM, NR, NBR, SBR, AEM, ACM, HTACM, ECO, etc, rubber chemicals, Oil, Plasticizer, Filler like Carbon, CaCo3, Silica etc, Capital goods, machine spare parts related to Molding & Extrusion of rubber parts, safety items (PPE), Export packing material, consumable, miscellaneous items, printing & general stationery items, Tooling, Jig & Fixtures as per company procedure & in compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Procurement of Raw materials (Natural Rubber, Synthetic Rubber, Synthetic Fabric, Steel Cord, Rubber Chemicals, Carbon Black, Process oils, bonding agents, FR chemicals) both indigenous and imported.

- Planning of Raw materials and liaison with production to maintain optimum inventory levels.

- Streamlining the system and procedures for effective inventory control for ensuring ready availability of materials to meet the production targets.

- Design, develop and review medium term sourcing plans.

- Outsourcing of semi-finished and finished goods.

- Market analysis of base materials price trends, competitive intelligence, and benchmarking.

- Directing and organizing cost saving programs with suppliers.

- High levels of integrity and professionalism in transactions & conduct with suppliers.

- Cost reduction through supplier evaluation, second source development & Value Engineering

- Rationalization of product mix to optimize on compound cost.

- To drive, administer & implement purchasing policies & procedures in line with ISO 9000 / IATF 16949

- Awareness of EMS requirements like MSDS of specific products

- To monitor suppliers performance and productivity on on-going basis and take corrective actions wherever required.

- To develop and implement innovative buying strategies to build a competitive advantage.

- Allocation of suppliers overdue through channeled fund flow management.

- Assessing the performance of vendors based on various criteria such as quality / technology improvement rate, timely delivery, credit terms etc.

- Guiding all plant and corporate purchase teams in deploying Purchase Policies, improving procurement systems and working towards cost reduction
