Job Title : Research Analyst  Reports to : Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager Research  Scope of Role :  GHO, Prudential UK, Prudential Corporation Asia, M&G, JNL  Key departments / areas of responsibility : Research  Job Dimensions :   Financial :   The role has no financial responsibilities  Non Financial :  This role has no direct reports and will work under a Project lead (AM/DM/Mgr)  Overall Job Purpose :  - Using secondary research to analyze Market, Competition, Customers, Distribution, Regulation and Products of Insurance industry to highlight findings and recommendation to clients  - The role would also require to recommend on the financial health of companies across various industry   - Providing inputs into regular reports emanating from the research team and the provision of ad hoc reports communicating the outcomes from research and analyses they have conducted  Accountabilities/Responsibilities :  - Accessing research databases like Factiva, Onesource, ISI emerging markets, etc. to get information based on business requirements  - Analysing data on market, industry and competitors of the Prudential and ensuring structure, content, timelines etc. are as per stakeholder specifications  - Analyse and interpret financial accounts, especially with respect to the insurance industries  - Analyse and recommend on financial health of current or potential suppliers of Prudential  - Producing some of the team's regular reports  - Develop regular newsletters on macro-economics, regulation, markets, products, competition   - Maintain a watching brief over emerging trends to provide updates on risks & opportunities to senior team members/stakeholders  - Assist team members in data search, collation and report structuring activities  - Support in generating ideas and materials for presentations and briefings   - Summarising the research reports and highlighting the key implications for Prudential  - Carrying out custom research to support varied areas of the business as required  - Developing ideas to improve and streamline all aspects relating to the sourcing, evaluation and the distribution of information by exploiting the use of tools such as the Internet, and existing databases  - To demonstrate a positive risk, compliance and control culture through the identification, assessment, monitoring and management of risks and issues within the business area, alongside ensuring timely and appropriate resolution of control weaknesses, actions and failures that arise.  Experience Desired :  - Secondary/ business research ( 2yrs exp)  - Company profiling, Competitor intelligence, SWOT, Pestle analysis, market assessmen  Key Interfaces :   Internal :   - Manager - Research  - Asst Manager/Deputy Manager  - Stakeholders (GHO, PRU UK)  Competence / Knowledge / Skills required :  Knowledge :  - Good understanding of the Financial Services industry and Insurance/Asset Management in particular  - Basic knowledge of financial analysis  - Comfortable with the use of MS Excel and PowerPoint  Skills :   - 2+ years experience in Financial /Business Research/Consulting   - Experience of working with secondary research tools and databases  - Highly numerate, being able to work through and deal with complex concepts and data  - Analytical skills in order to interpret and translate large volumes of complex market, product and company information into concise and accurate summaries as required  - Strong research skills.  - Good planning and prioritising skills  Behaviours :  - Attention to detail   - Self starter
