2. BACKGROUND:

Founded by Gary White and Matt Damon in 2009, Water.org, believes that water is the way to break the cycle of poverty, to protect and save lives and to make a bright future possible for all.

Water.org's mission is to bring water and sanitation to the world and pioneers market-driven financial solutions for the purpose. 750 million people (about one in 10), globally lack access to safe water and 2.4 billion people (about one in three), do not have access to a toilet. Water.org serves these people and has already beneficially impacted more than 10 million lives and transformed thousands of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America.

Water.org India works for the provision of safe drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities, to families living in rural and urban Indian communities in 13 states and one Union Territory viz. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Pondicherry. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Sr Program Manager / Program Manager, the Project Manager shall be responsible for managing Water.org's critical multiple projects working with various internal, governments and private stakeholders. The project is expected to be executed in a disciplined, fast paced discipline with defined milestone based deliverable.

Key Responsibilities:

(1) Work within a Global Team environment to implement a community based health and sanitation project in project states; Oversee planning, management, reporting, implementation and monitoring of the project;

(2) Work with central and state-government and various international stakeholders to ensure project goals and deliverables are well designed and documented;

(3) Ensure project is well executed against specific initiatives and objectives. Prepare periodic programmatic work plans and project budgets in line with donor and mission conventions;

(4) Maintain and contribute to development of project guidelines, processes, and tools to improve governance of minimum standards across Water.org programs;

(5) Continuously monitor and supervise project activities, oversee technical design, execution and evaluation of progress through outputs and impacts using both quantitative and qualitative data;

(6) Support and contribute to communications with staff regarding project deadlines, behavior change, training objectives and monitoring/evaluation activities. Provide leadership and guidance to all project staff on direction and implementation of the project;

(7) Liaise with state, district and block administration and other line departments, local government and NGOs to enhance their participation and collaboration; Assess training needs and ensure successful execution of objective based adult learning programs as needed

(8) Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities according to donor and other applicable timeframes and formats. Develop donor reports and documents in line with contractual requirements;

(9) Analyze gaps in project results and re-calibrate new strategies that will ensure continued project development and future success.

(10) Administer project budget through reviewing payment requests, approving expenditures in accordance with donor policies and procedures and track and control overall costs within budgetary parameters;

(11) Coordinate with financial, training and technical experts to provide timely assistance and incorporate the same relevant project activities.

(12) Train other colleagues on Project Management methodology and best practices to manage complex development projects.

4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

Applicant must possess MBA, M.Phil, MSW, or equivalent from a reputed, globally recognized institute. Specialization in Project Management, Finance, Rural Management will be preferred.

Experience:

(1) Minimum seven years- experience in managing multi state projects, preferably on health, hygiene and sanitation;

(2) Applicants with strong corporate experience managing complex rural projects, would also be considered.

Skills and Competencies:

(1) Leadership role in managing multi- year projects supported by government, bilateral or multilateral agency;

(2) Strong presentation skills;

(3) Excellent communication skills; Demonstrated ability to communicate in English and Hindi;

(4) Stakeholder management- be able work with various project leaders to bring clear objectives, and cohesive action plans;

(5) Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work well with those from various backgrounds and cultures;

(6) Self-starter who can initiate, implement and complete projects with a quick-change approach;

(7) Ability to lead and manage a team of individuals with diverse expertise;

(8) Ability to plan conceptualize and deliver effective projects;

(9) Willingness to travel extensively in India (40% of the time), including rural and urban areas as well as internationally;

(10) People skills, Strong analytic skills;

(11) High level of integrity and honesty; Emotional intelligence.

The gross remuneration budgeted for the position is attractive. Offers shall be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and salary history, of the selected candidate.
