Project Manager - Operations & Local Partnerships - NGO

Situated at an altitude 11,500 feet, Leh is a dry desert where tourism has increased nearly 7x in the past 10 years, bringing prosperity but causing immense stress on the local water supply, waste management systems and air quality / traffic.

Our project was launched in 2018 and has done some very visible and highly appreciated work in Leh. Due to changes in senior leadership, we are seeking a Project Manager who will oversee the project till its completion 2021

The goal of the project is to improve the process of urbanization by:

a. Strengthening local authorities, NGOs and businesses through leadership workshops, expert sessions on climate change and sustainability, roundtable discussions etc, to help achieve SDGs.

b. Engaging residents through public talks, public events and competitions

c. Creating robust development plans for the future of Leh

We expect to raise further funds and expand this program in scope and duration to provide long-term support to local parties in this journey.

The role of Project Manager will involve:

- Managing the Project Team of ~15 people to implement activities and achieve the outcomes of the project, focusing on high quality work

- Providing motivation, leadership and direction to the team, to manage time well and focus on key priorities/deliverables, while being innovative, resourceful and creative to achieve the greatest impact

- Overseeing the budget

- Reporting to donors and to the Board

The Project Manager must have:

- A deep desire to address problems that plague small Indian towns

- An ability to work with local government at senior levels in a supporting role

- Expect 8-12 years of experience or more, but exceptions will be considered depending on skills and experience

- Willing to live in Leh until completion of this project in 2021
