Job Title : Project Manager

Job Location : Bangalore, India

Reports To : Portfolio or Program Director

Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

- Within companies new capabilities and Services are delivered by Programs and Projects, using the Innovation Funnel Process. Program/Project teams may reside within functions, services or within a specific Geography to deliver these capabilities or Services.

- Within the Organization, all projects require the use of external partners to deliver requiring the ability to work in a diverse environment

- Projects are generally changes to capability or service that have a limited complexity, typically one technology or process. Programs span multiple technologies or processes.

- The Project manager is a key delivery engine in this environment. The management of projects typically involves the development and implementation of processes and technology to meet identified business needs, acquiring, utilizing and facilitating the necessary resources and skills within agreed parameters of cost, timescales and quality.

- For their assigned scope, the project manager is the point of contact and accountable for all projects within their remit.

Main Accountabilities :

Autonomy :

- Works under general supervision. Uses discretion in identifying and resolving complex problems and assignments. Specific instruction is usually given, and work is reviewed at frequent milestones.

- Determines when problems should be escalated to a higher level

Influence :

- Interacts with and influences department / Project team members. Frequent external contact with customers and suppliers. Decisions impact work assigned to individual/phases of Project

Complexity :

- Broad range of work, sometimes complex and non routine, in variety of environments

Business skills :

- Understands and uses appropriate methods tools and applications. Demonstrates analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.

- Takes initiative in identifying and negotiating appropriate development opportunities. Demonstrates effective communication skills. Can plan, schedule and monitor own work and that of others competently.

- Is able to absorb and apply new technical information. Is able to work to required standards and to understand and use the appropriate methods, tools and applications

- Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of medium to large scale Projects, actively participating in phases of the Project funnel from feasibility

- Ensures that realistic Project, quality and risk plans are prepared and maintained

- Tracks all activities against the plan, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders, as appropriate and manages stakeholder expectations

- Monitors and controls team performance against plans. Maintains effective financial and Project progress forecasting, and reports as appropriate

- Effectively estimates costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the Project(s) to agreed terms of reference

- Monitors costs, timescales and technical build resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria

- Initiates and influences relationships with and between key stakeholders, in, management and implementation, acting as a primary point of contact for senior stakeholders and influencers

- Manages the change control procedure and ensures that Project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gains agreement for revisions/scope changes to the Project(s) from Project sponsors

- Ensures that the Project is managed through to Transition to Service

- Manages the Project procurement process

- Provides effective leadership to the Project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. Takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Actively represents the Project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business

- Determines the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; uncovers readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to go-live

- Develops and nurtures relationships with suppliers, ensuring accountability and delivery

- Ensures that own Projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and actioned. Produces appropriate documentation to support these processes

- Ensures compliance with company standards, and GPMO Project standards
