We need a Project Manager - Farmer's First as part of the global Organisation family, implementing and maximising the impact of Organisation's contribution to overcoming poverty and disadvantage. This will involve not only developing new relationships with strategic partners to shape Organisations goals in country, but also managing our people and volunteers and being accountable for financial and legal compliances. Importantly, you will be securing resources, raising the profile of Organisation and volunteering within India and representing Organisation to government and international agencies, donors and the corporate sector - championing our values and vision at all times.

Project Manager - Farmers First

Job Purpose: To project manage the delivery of an innovative, cross-sector pilot project around agricultural value chain development working with small-holder farmers in North West Bangladesh, and delivered in partnership with a new, high profile corporate partner. The pilot programme is initially for 1 year with the opportunity to scale up regionally and globally, should it be a success

Responsibilities:

Project development and leadership

- Provide leadership, ensuring project plans and communications for the partnership are in place and ensure internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date

- Develop and provide overall direction for project design to advance prosperity by engaging with local farmers; government; local volunteers and partner organizations.

- Manage high-level collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including government partners and international colleagues who support programme delivery

- Develop an effective and robust project that addresses the challenges the small holders face with regards to environmental and agricultural sustainability and climate resilience, ensuring that Organisation is seen as a leading player in developing projects with corporate partners that respond to the national and regional agendas

- Network with and engage additional external stakeholders in the programme such as USAID and DFID. Project Management-Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements; monitor project risk and proactively develop mitigating strategies should risks arise, Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.

- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of the project.

- Review deliverables prepared by team

- Effectively apply Organisation project management tools (log-frames, gantt charts, M&E tools etc) that enforce project standards.

- Minimizes Organisation exposure and risk on project.

- Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. Project Accounting

- Manages project budget. Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for project. Reporting:

- Ensure project activity, outcome progress, issues, risks, exception reports are available to Stakeholders and management teams as appropriate.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

- Conduct post-implementation project reviews and initiate improvements to Organisation's project management practices. Lead the measurement and realisation of benefits delivered by the project.

Key Performance:

Successful delivery of project following Organisation project methodology and tools (based upon Prince 2).

Project delivered on time and to budget with minimal disruption to business operations.

Stakeholder and management team are satisfied with the standard and frequency of reports on project activity, outcome progress, communications, issues, and risks.

Project team members are performing well as individuals and working effectively together and across the Organisation to meet project objectives.

Project and budget is managed in line with corporate partner/donor terms and conditions outlined in the contract.

High quality and timely reports, as well as frequent and high quality communications with corporate partner/donor.

Corporate partner/donor is satisfied with the level and quality of communication about the project from the project manager.

Annual reviews and final evaluation carried out and shared. Evidence of lessons learnt from evaluation being used to adapt ongoing programmes and inform future programme development. Good practice, learning and knowledge will be shared within country, region and wider organisation.

An approved Monitoring & Evaluation framework is in place.

Baseline Surveys completed and uploaded during this financial year. Additional Monitoring & Evaluation initiatives undertaken during this financial year

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

Project Management - Strong agricultural value chain development experience of min. Exp ( 5 yrs +); in small holder livelihoods programming. Experience in developing log-frames and managing risk on complex projects preferably on corporate partnerships with agriculture sector. Experience on sustainable agricultural practices, commercial expertise, access to markets and the development of partnerships. Communication - Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to adapt to the different styles to suit audiences like Farmers, Corporates, Volunteers, Donors, National & International people etc. Relationship Building - Ability to build effective working relationships, inspiring confidence and credibility with employees at all levels. Strong influencer of others. Ability to work effectively across a globally dispersed organisation. People Management - Experience in managing a team and managing a group of diverse project stakeholders Engagement of people- Ability to engage confidently and comfortably with a wide range of people with proven ability to build productive partnerships and teams both internally and externally, locally and internationally Organisation and planning - Excellent coordination and planning skills with experience of working under pressure. Time management skills. Financial - Experience of successfully monitoring and managing budgets. Analysis and creative problem-solving - Ability to analyse and quickly grasp the fundamentals of a need or issue. Able to find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems. Flexibility - Ability to manage a project in a climate of change, recognising and being open to ambiguity, uncertainty and opportunities.

Desirable: Experience in corporate social responsibility programming an added advantage. Prince 2 project methodology qualification. Practical experience within a volunteering/Non Government Organisation context. Commitment to Organisation's work and values. Understanding Bangla.

Location: Bangladesh (Local candidates from Bangladesh - preferred)
