Project Manager - Community based solutions
We are eager to connect with professionals who meet the following criteria:
- Bachelor's/PG degree or higher in environment science, sustainability, engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in overseeing and developing community-based projects
- Deep expertise in various technologies and interventions related to improved biomass or fossil fuel cookstoves, solar cookers, bio-digesters, safe water supply and treatment technologies etc.
- Deep expertise in international standards, guidelines, and methodologies related to nature-based carbon offset projects
- Deep understanding of voluntary carbon markets, carbon accounting, project certification processes; understanding of upcoming regulations on Indian Carbon markets and their impact
- Ability to evaluate and assess the potential of each project based on geographical factors, community needs, and environmental considerations
- Proven experience in building relationships with partners, community leaders, local authorities
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to travel to project sites and engage directly with communities and stakeholders
The various roles and responsibility includes :
- Oversee and develop community-based carbon offset projects; these could be Improved Cookstoves, digesters, biogas fuels among others
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify suitable project sites and technologies that align with community needs, cultural practices, and environmental sustainability
- Establish relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and other stakeholders to facilitate project acceptance, engagement, and long-term sustainability
- Develop financial models to compute IRR / Cash Flow Statement / Debt repayment and perform sensitivity analysis for various project types
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including technical, financial, and social aspects, to guide the successful implementation of community-based projects
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact and success of community-based carbon offset projects
- Create high-quality PDDs and work with standards organizations like Verra, Gold Standard, etc. to ensure timely validation and approvals
- Work with Standards and audit agencies for verification of projects on the ground and ensure timely and appropriate resolution of observations raised
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies
- Leverage technology to create high-quality and auditable MRV processes to continuously monitor emission reduction/avoidance and project performance
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive project reports and internal updates
- Manage project budgets and ensure adherence to financial guidelines
