Program Manager - Marketing - New Product Development Projects - Manufacturing

This position is responsible for owning and execution of NPD projects within the standard gated process.

RESPONSIBILITIES : 

Ensure high quality products are developed, built, and delivered on time as defined by the commitments documented in the New Product Schedule by:

New Product Development :

1. Project (NPD/ Migration/ Cost reduction) management

- Deliver annual NPD schedule as aligned with various categories of business

- Act as Project Leader and execute project management duties on New Product Development / Migration projects through the defined gate process.

- Lead cross functional teams through the development of a project timeline and maintain it throughout the life of the project. Periodically present and record the status of the project to management team.

- Drive the supporting teams like Engineering, Manufacturing and Sourcing & Supply chain towards on time completion of the pre-production build and pilot build on NPD projects.

- Develop and manage the project budget with the team, including development expense & tooling investment.

- Define roles & responsibilities for team members in undefined processes, when new processes are created, or unique instances occur.

- Manage the collection of project data for NPD process gate exits and release for shipment documents.

- Capital planning for projects with technical details.

2. Product development : 

- Create and own the launch calendar by driving the project from scoping to delivery, as per the global standards.

- Manage development of new product, continuous product refreshes & product costs through design to value

- Guide the team to develop new products that meet cost targets. Primarily responsible for creating preliminary product cost estimates in conjunction with Design & Manufacturing/NPI Engineering.

Project Reporting / Communication:

- Provide monthly Project update status for management by publishing dashboards

- Maintain project data (budget, timeline, status, etc.)

- Project status update for Product Council / Business Review meetings.

Change Agent / Process improvement:

- Regularly provide feedback and ideas/solutions for process improvement in New Product

Development & Manufacturing processes.

- Provide cost reduction input to Engineering group based on the learning from other projects.

Frequent contact with:

1. Marketing: to coordinate completion of project scope and solicit Marketing input throughout projects.

2. Product Engineering: to coordinate design phase of projects and review designs for manufacturability and assembly.

3. Industrial Design: on product/component aesthetics as it relates to project timelines and manufacturability.

4. Sourcing/Purchasing: to coordinate sourcing of components and exchange critical project cost, design and timing information.

5. Quality: to coordinate approval of internal and external components.

6. Manufacturing / NPI: to coordinate cost estimating, material routings, tooling & fixture building, pre-production and pilot build of systems.

7. Accounting: to exchange product cost data, capital request data and charge account information.

8. Other Product Development Managers to insure alignment toward objectives and technology/development transfer across businesses, categories and geographic regions.

Occasional contact with: 

1. Legal with reference to patent applications and infringements; occasional contact with Communications to coordinate products for photo shoots, etc.

2. Business leaders for conflict resolution and executive summaries of project status.

3. Manufacturing operational leaders to insure alignment of NPS commitments in areas of resources, capacity, etc.
