PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The incumbent is responsible for product evaluation and strategy formulation incorporating the positioning, branding, messaging, packaging, marketing, etc. for the identified product.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- New product planning:

The Product Manager shall identify and evaluate the product during the breeders’ tours in coordination with Production and SPR team and present the strategy for the launch. The strategy would encompass areas of product feasibility as per the feedback from the breeders and Technology team and the pros and cons of going ahead with the product.

- Product Strategy:

The Product Manager is expected to define the product strategy and roadmap, Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities, be an expert with respect to the competition, develop the core positioning and messaging for the product. perform product demos to customers, deliver a revenue forecast, develop sales tools and collateral, propose an overall budget to ensure success, brief and train the sales force at regular sales meets and campaigns and drive these meets, brief press and analysts and go on press tours, and all such functions and activities which are related to company s strategy and vision with respect to the product.

- Pre Launch, Launch and Post Launch activities:

The Product Manager shall manage all end to end activities from new product development, market research, advertising, PR, Consumer / trade activation programs, etc. for the identified product.

- Analysis and coordination:

The PM shall have strong analytical skills to formulate the effective marketing strategies for existing brands and expertise in launching new products. Creating and implementing marketing processes, tracking marketing spend effectiveness and overall responsibilities of portfolio profitability. This includes gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with production, sales, technology development teams and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.

- Strategic Involvement and Cross functional crop specific initiatives:

The PM shall be involved in the implementation plan for the Biotech strategy and detailed planning for the activities involved in the same. Also active partner in cop specific initiatives with TD and Breeding departments. Active involvement and driving crop team meetings.

Global marketing support as per the need basis and as per the Goal document.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Minimum Academic Qualification: Post graduate diploma/ MBA in rural management or marketing management from B school.

- Experience and Knowledge: Minimum of 6-8 years experience as a Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager

- Skills and Abilities Required: Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products, Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teamwork, proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority proactive, planning and analytical, able to travel 80% of the time.
