Procurement Officer - Melt Shop Consumables - Steel Industry

With relevant experience in the Steel Industry

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: (Brief Description of Job Function)

Responsible for purchases of Melt Shop and DRI consumables from the right source, at the right price, to the right specification and at the right time through proper and ethical company approved policies & procedures.

DETAILED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Should have sound knowledge about Melt shop consumable & handle bulk purchasing activity.

- To examine & follow up for all requisitions received through the ERP system, for complete specifications and necessary drawings if any etc.

- Prepare and issue Enquiries, to Suppliers/Vendors. Selection of Vendors/Suppliers must be made from the approved vendor list & get approval from concern authority

- To advise indenter of economic ordering quantities and realistic lead time so as to ensure proper material planning.

- Ensure that copies of all quotations received are passed to user department technical evaluation and recommendations.

- Examine all Technical Evaluations and Recommendations received from user Departments and Assist in obtaining various clarifications prior to prepare bid tabulation for each enquiry for procurement recommendation

- Negotiate with supplier on commercial terms and condition.

- Prepares the recommendation for order placement on approved vendor on technically acceptable offer basis and create or assist in the issue of order.

- To recommend order placement within delegated authority

- To obtain necessary approvals of competent authority for order placement based on

Delegation of power.

- Liaise with Melt Shop user, Logistic & planning department, to sort out problems if any, on receipt of materials.

- Liaise with Supplier and Finance Department for arranging the invoice & do the settlement of supplier invoices with in stipulated time.

- Daily Melt Shop Consumable MIS report as per production scheduled plus warehouse stock.

- Regular liaising with supplier about delivery as per production schedule & arrange the quantity.

- Should have to maintain min stock level decided by user department & prepare delivery scheduled & inform and liaise with supplier accordingly.

- To seek, develop and maintain reliable sources of supply that will create and Encourage, a competitive buying atmosphere.

- To develop alternate sources so to help in import substitution and or avoid dependence on single source of supply.

- To organize and use total buying power in a manner that will yield maximum Benefit to the Company.

- To receive all communication documents pertaining to Procurement and attending to same in liaising with the Supervisor.

- Responsible for maintaining up-to-date records and documents to substantiate Purchasing to highest professional and ethical standards.

- Should be aware of the general requirements of quality and environment management systems as per ISO 9001:2008 & 14001:2004 respectively and comply with the same.

- Should have sound knowledge in MS Office and SAP.

WORK CONTACTS :

- Regular contact with Supervisor for day to day performance of duties and close contact with all concerned department and user, with regard to ordering monitoring and delivering of all Melt Shop & DRI consumables.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Minimum supervision from Middle Management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING :

- Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy or Mechanical or equivalent / or Membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.

- Ability to deal Bulk quantity purchasing.

- Have a experienced to handle Melt Shop Consumable and DRI consumable

(Qualifications may be relaxed with the permission of Management depending on the Candidate's previous experience in similar job).

EXPERIENCE :

- 7-10 years experience in Purchasing and Supplies Management of Melt Shop consumable used in steel manufacturing industries.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

- 95% in office

- 5% outdoor
