Job Description - Sales Engineer / Pre-Sales Consultant

Summary:

The Sales Engineer / Pre Sales consultant assists the SAE in managing the overall relationship with the client from the initial engagement through contract negotiations and into a long-term association -- this includes responding to technical questions, writing technical sections of proposals, giving technical presentations,and related tasks needed in the sales process.

The Sales Engineer will work directly with the Sales Manager team in their region to perform product presentations and demonstrations, develop compelling prototypes and proof of concepts, and provide field sales assistance to prospects and customers.

Requirement:

- Minimum of 6+ years of experience working as part of a major account sales teamselling IT software, product or services.

- Software configuration management experience, preferably in a distributed application development enterprise environment. Experience in multiple configuration management tools a plus (Subversion, ClearCase, ClearQuest, CVS, Perforce).

- Strong technical skills in Internet/Open Source technologies (LINUX, Apache, Java, XML, HTML, etc.) is required.

- Solid technical background with domain experience in the software development and the application lifecycle (SDL) in an enterprise environment.

- Demonstrated verbal and written analytical/problem solving, communication, negotiation, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential. Will interface with all levels of staff within a customer’s organization, from developers to CIOs

Responsibilities

- Technically qualify opportunities

- Assist with sales presentations to potential clients

- Cultivate relationships with the client's technical staff and their management

- Act as a contact on client pre-sales and post-sales technical issues.

Desired Profile

- An engineering graduate with MBA is highly desirable

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Ability to build excellent working and long term relationship with customers

- Ability to manage competing priorities across projects

- Team player that works well in collaborative and matrix management situations

- Proven partner management background

- Resourceful, aggressive and proactive

- Detail oriented and highly organized

- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory
