Purpose :
Broad Objectives of the role :
The person will be responsible for the timely procurement of goods and services for PVMI, ensuring cost effectiveness commensurate with quality.
Role holder Requirements :
Minimum qualification and experience :
Graduate and 6+ years of experience, preferably BE/B.Tech or higher with background of engineering procurement
Area of responsibility
- Purchase manager is responsible for buying the best quality equipment, goods and services, at the most competitive prices, to enable a company or organisation to operate.
- Through effective negotiation, networking and dealing with numbers, purchasing he/she has to help business or organisation save money and increase profits. He/she also deals with other factors such as sustainability, risk management and ethical issues
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable prices
- Negotiate contracts on behalf of the organization.
- Attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contacts with suppliers
- Meet with staff and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action
- Evaluate and monitor contracts to be sure that vendors and supplies comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and to determine the need for changes
- Maintain and review records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories
- Work out agreements with suppliers, such as when products will be delivered
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed
- Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centres to examine and learn about products, services, and price
- Lead the continuous improvement effort to improve safety performance, product quality, unit cost, and employee performance, utilizing a participative team approach.
- Achieve goals through projects that translate customer needs into new products, services, and profits, make it all happen more efficiently and effectively.
- Helping businesses implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners.
- Drive the design or review of test cases, process change requests, and manage a project's scope, acceptance, installation and deployment.
- React quickly to rapidly changing conditions while achieving and maintaining optimal levels of process performance.
- Assess the effectiveness of a business function and offer recommendations for improvement in accordance with a well-defined body of knowledge.
- Works closely with project managers and quality specialists to identify ways to make things better, including the corporate bottom line.
- Improving the outcomes of various processes so that, by mapping all the inputs and outputs of a defined business process, the incumbent is able to recommend ways to improve efficiency, reduce cost and/or increase customer satisfaction.
- Defining, analysing and documenting requirements that evolve from a business analyst's creative process, and are intended to show what systems can do.
