Employment Law - Legal Counsel


Oracle is seeking a dynamic and motivated employment lawyer in India to work as part of a global team of lawyers.

The position will report to the Associate General Counsel, Employment (APAC) based in Australia.

Although India based, the role will include some wider responsibility covering a range of employment issues across the APAC region. You will be expected to demonstrate skills and expertise in dealing with novel, complex and challenging issues and possess the ability to find solutions through a practical, pragmatic and problem solving approach. We are looking for someone who can think and work independently, prioritize large volumes of work in a self-service environment, and effectively manage legal risk.

As Employment Law Counsel (India) you will play a key role in supporting the company's employment objectives working alongside the Associate General Counsel, Employment (APAC).

Key Responsibilities include :

- Counsel and advise on a myriad of contentious and non contentious employment law matters

- Support and manage employment related litigation and settlement negotiations

- Review and keep updated employment agreements and standard terms of employment

- Review and keep updated all applicable policies, Standing Orders and Employee Handbooks

- Assist HR with the effective management of the employee life cycle, including hiring, terminations, performance management and employment relations

- Advise on issues arising from corporate acquisitions and restructurings, as well as the management of Oracle's contingent workforce

- Advise on employee benefits, variable compensation, executive packages

- Develop and provide legal training for internal clients as required

- Provide employment law advice in respect of compliance and regulatory issues and investigations

- Work collaboratively and responsively with internal clients and colleagues in HR, Global Operations, Finance, M&A and Corporate Development, including cross-functionally with the Compliance and Privacy teams

- Effectively interact with outside counsel and management

- Support and help develop initiatives and processes that assist the advancement of Oracle's business while continuing to mitigate risk

- Anticipate and keep informed on significant employment law changes, trends and issues

Requirements :

- Law degree

- 6-8 years PQE employment law experience

- Must be able to work autonomously and perform under pressure in a self-service and fast paced environment

- Must be based in Bangalore

- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are a must

- Business awareness and orientation (capability to match legal expertise to commercial business context)

- Independent and able to make decisions

- Analytical thinking (solution driven)

- Comfortable in a complex and changing business environment
