The incoming resource will write audit reports which identify gaps and underlying root causes in Finance and Credit processes; provide recommendations to mitigate / address deficiencies while adding value to OakNorth. Apart from that they will also track audit actions for timely closure of deficiencies noted during audits and escalate where required. Job Responsibilities : - Work closely with the audit track lead to plan and execute audit programs in accordance with the internal audit policies, methodologies and auditing standards to provide independent assurance to senior management - Finalise scope and conduct research before the start of the audit fieldwork - Interact with staff to obtain an understanding of relevant risks, controls and processes - Proactively seek ways to make the best use of data as part of the audit process including to inform our understanding of risks, process inefficiencies and provide relevant insights to the business - Assist in communicating and discussing initial observations on a weekly basis with business unit stakeholders before agreeing the audit findings - Write audit reports which identify gaps and underlying root causes in Finance and Credit processes; provide recommendations to mitigate / address deficiencies while adding value to OakNorth - Track audit actions for timely closure of deficiencies noted during audits and escalate where required - Support IA team and colleagues on subject matter whilst keeping in mind team goals, not only individual targets - Complete the annual Continuous Professional Development (CPD) requirements Desired Skills : - 6+ years of professional experience in a Finance, Credit and Operational Risks related audit role within a regulated financial services environment - Experience across one or more of: Treasury operations, Current Accounts, Financial risks, Credit Risks, Liquidity/ALM, and Regulatory reporting with transactional banking exposure - CA or CFA or any other equivalent qualification in accounting or finance - Good understanding of the UK's regulatory environment - Knowledge of IIA standards - Data evangelist mindset and proficiency in working with and interpreting data with one of the following - ACL, SQL, Python or R (any one is preferred) - Working knowledge of GRC systems - Desire and drive to learn, grow and have impact quickly as part of an expanding team - Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills - Experience working in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivery and output - Hunger and fire to get the job done (10x, momentum) - Ability to work with others across teams, geographies, and legal entities (one team) - Not a prima donna / ego issue (right ambition) - Not highly political or "spin doctor" (say it as it is) - Logical thinking, ability to get to the simplest answer as opposed to a convoluted one (challenge and simplify) - An honest person who operates with a high degree of ethics and integrity through any situation (right ambition, say it as it is) - A self-starter and fast learner; someone who can work and learn on his/her own - Someone with gravitas and whose opinion matters; someone who is trusted by colleagues across the firm, from the most junior to the most senior - A person who focuses on what matters most: outcomes; someone who relentlessly avoids hypothetical risks and verbose
