NPCI - Product Development Role - UPI/RUpay

The job:

You will be responsible for the planning and implementing strategies for RuPay and UPI globally for NIPL. You will also support the Head of Product Management in identifying, investigating and assessing growth opportunities for NIPL relating to product development. Technical, functional or operational expertise relating to payments domain will be an added advantage.

What you'll do:

Analysis/Insights

- Research and Assessment on country specific Retail Payments Industry

- Competitor Profiling -assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of current and potential competitors.

- Develop business cases, taking into strategy, financial & business analysis and synergies

- Identify need for, procure and manage outside knowledge on as needed basis

Responsibilities:

- Evaluate existing UPI and RuPay products to identify areas for enhancement and feature additions.

- Strategize increase in transaction volumes.

- Explore partnerships with new merchants, design targeted marketing campaigns, analyse data to identify and address any potential friction points in payment process.

- Ensure standardizations of processes, documentation and creating product value proposition. Product Design and Customization to cater to diverse markets.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and QA, to implement product upgrades.

- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and regulatory changes impacting UPI and RuPay services.

- Conduct market research to understand user needs and preferences, providing insights for product improvement.

- Define and prioritize product requirements, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.

- Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and iterate on product upgrades for optimal user experience.

- Develop documentation for new features, upgrades, and improvements in UPI and RuPay products.

- Collaborate with marketing teams to create communication strategies for product updates and launches.

- Monitor product performance post-upgrade, analyzing user feedback and addressing any issues promptly.

- Stay informed about technological advancements and assess their applicability to enhance UPI and RuPay offering.

- Product Portfolio Management -identifying areas of improvement, Ownership for driving overall product P&L and optimization of the P&L by controlling costs and improving product margin.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; MBA is a plus.

- 13+ Proven experience in product management or related roles, preferably in the financial technology sector

- Strong understanding of UPI and RuPay frameworks, protocols, and regulatory requirements.

- Excellent project management skills with the ability to drive initiatives from concept to implementation.

- Analytical mindset with the capability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate product strategies.

- Adaptability to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

- Knowledge of the latest trends and innovations in digital payments and financial technology.
