Position Title : Digital Solutions Director

Position Purpose:

- The Digital Solutions Director is a key organizational position which partners with colleagues across all Franchises, Functions, Novartis Divisions and external channels to drive implementation of disruptive digital technologies. The Digital Solutions Director plays an essential role in driving GDD's digital agenda by catalyzing and leading digital projects to bring them to life. 


- The Digital Solutions Director is a core team member of the assigned Digital Program Team (DPT) and works closely with the respective Digital Pro-gram Head of GDD D&D and holds direct responsibility in the execution of an integrated strategy by ensuring alignment and efficient cross functional execution of multiple digital initiatives. 


- This requires the ability to influence and lead multi-disciplinary teams across a variety of subject matters with minimal authority to deliver with high quality, and in accordance with approved strategy.

Major Accountabilities : 


- Overall - Ensure the successful adoption and scale-up of digital technologies across Novartis GDD. 


- Lead cross-functional project teams and task forces of multidisciplinary experts across varying areas of technological proficiency ensuring the assessment / execution of digital projects. 


- Develop and nurture relationships with other Development functions and external partners to ensure the expansion of solutions across the Development portfolio. 


- Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) pilot programs to evaluate disruptive technologies.


 - Identify unmet needs and opportunities where digital solutions can positively impact GDD assets and operations and develop new or improved processes to increase efficiency and quality of deliverables.


 - Develop and manage new processes where no process or precedent exists, while maintaining compliance with current regulations (both internal and external).


 - Identify and share learnings and process changes needed for technology adoption as identified through pilot programs and/or gap analysis. 


- Provides strategic planning and input for communication and coordination of GDD D&D activities throughout GDD, other Novartis Divisions, and through external channels/PR/Media.


 - Proactively manage risk, including assessment of impact on clinical operations and development of mitigation plans 


- Collaborates with the Global Head of Data & Digital, Digital Program Heads and Head of Operations and Digital Transformation in preparation of organizational recommendations, business cases, financial forecasts and updates for senior management and organizational leadership teams 


- Communicates program progress / issues horizontally and vertically in an open and timely manner Operations


 - Accountable for the implementation and scale-up of technology across the GDD organization in line with the GDD D&D and DPTs strategy. Teams - Partners with all Franchises, Novartis Divisions and associated GDD line functions to enable a high performing team culture based on the expertise and contributions of its members, shared responsibility, and the coordination of work towards a common goal GDD D&D and Project Leadership 


- Provides leadership in the areas of planning, tracking, scenario-generation, contingency development, critical path analysis, and risk management


Key Performance Indicator(s) : 


 - Achievement of GDD D&D objectives and key program milestones through stakeholder engagement 


- Development and management of internal and external KOLs in order to achieve objectives 


- Identification, development, execution and scale-up of new digital initiatives which lead to future implementation of digital health technologies


Competencies : 


 Minimum Requirements (from Generic Role Profile) : 


- Graduate degree or equivalent in life sciences (or MBA with bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in life science) Fluent English (oral and written). 


1. 10+ years industry experience 


2. 5+ years or equivalent multi-/cross-functional leadership experience


 3. Excellent understanding and direct relevant experience with digital technology and Pharmaceutical development 


4. Direct experience developing, launching and leading functions within a complex matrix environment


 5. Experience presenting/speaking at a senior management level with a proven track record of effectively communicating com-plex initiatives 


6. Successful track record of problem-solving and navigating un-charted territory without clear precedent 


7. Strong leadership presence and experience interacting at exec-utive levels with the ability to bridge gaps between scientific, technical and business participants 


8. Previous track record of success in working with and leading large scale and complex international and multidisciplinary teams 


9. Expert knowledge in drug development/clinical operations


 10. Advanced project / program management skills 


11. Strength demonstrated
