Job Description for Packaging Development Manager at MTR Foods Main Challenges in this Position: - Develop a long term packaging development road map consistent with the product strategy and plans for allocated categories - Coordination with internal stake holders like Product development, Marketing, QA, Production, Regulatory and Supply Chain for NPD or Modification in any existing products related packaging development work. - Keep abreast of global trends in packaging to develop alternate packaging solutions for different end uses and price points. - Continuously benchmark food packaging media in the market for functionality and costs. - Identify and develop vendors for packaging solutions and manufacturing. Ensure development of comprehensive packaging solutions that allow for compact cartonisation, palletisation and containerization. Responsibility & Mandate: - Identification, evaluation &amp; implementation of different cost saving Packaging technology and retention of best quality in packaging. - Designing of new packaging concept/ technologies &amp; continuous improvement in Packaging Technology for new or existing products categories. - Formulating and controlling packaging material specifications for all primary, secondary and tertiary packaging. - Technical assistance for in-house printing unit and shop floor operations. - Approval of Artworks. - Generating key line drawings. - Packing machine trials as appropriate and ensure e2e compliance of packaging solutions as per company policies. Main Tasks and/or Projects: - Packaging design and development for different processed foods categories like snacks, Ready to Eat, Instant Foods, Masalas, Beverages etc as per the responsibilities allocated. - Oversee coordination with vendors &amp; internal stakeholders for artwork approval process. - Lab scale &amp; plant trial for new packaging projects. - Transit trial evaluation during any modification in Packaging formats. Criteria for Evaluation: - New packaging solutions - Cost savings through packaging - Key alternate packaging solutions Education: - Two years Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging from Indian Institute of Packaging - Graduation in Food Technology/Pharmacy/Chemistry /any science stream Experience: - 8 - 10 years experience in Packaging design &amp; development for FMCG Company would be preferred. - Technical knowledge in Packaging and Food Processing. - Proficient in designing and implementing suitable e2e packaging solutions for food categories - Knowledge in SAP - Team handling experience Competence/Skills: - Knowledge of latest packaging innovation - Packaging cost Management - Good interpersonal skills - Project Management - Highly process oriented Personality: - Assertive - Hard working - Self starter - Open minded
