Job Description of General Manager - Innovation & Technology @ MTR Foods Pvt. Ltd.

Main Challenges in this Position (or Company/Division/BU):

Lead the product, recipe and packaging development mandate for MTR.

Develop and execute annual plans, budgets, KPIs for Innovation & Technology function, appropriate to Business needs in line with consumer relevance and needs.

To lead a team of Heads/Managers & Executives effectively.

Support regulatory compliance for artworks, ingredients, HACCP, etc.

Build a Network with regulatory bodies, trade organisations, research institutes, etc.

Responsibility and Mandate:

Own and drive product innovation/renovation development process.

Develop long term product and packaging development road map consistent with the product strategy and plans.

Ensure innovation & optimisation delivery in respect of product and packaging development.

Owner of the innovation (stage gate) process. Associate closely with the marketing team in getting the right consumer insights to aid product development.

Continuously benchmark the competing and new products in the market for functionality and costs.

Replicate or upgrade MTR products as appropriate.

Drive cost reduction projects with Purchase and Marketing to deliver product margins.

Develop short term as well as long term road map for cuisine study and recipe research & development consistent with the product strategy and plans.

Spearhead networking with regulatory bodies like FSSAI, Trade Institutions like CII, FICCI, Research Institutes, etc.

Criteria for Evaluation:- Products successfully developed/ redeveloped (relaunches) On Time in Full.

Cost savings delivered through substitution.

Alternate packaging solutions developed. Development of SOPs, FG and RM Specifications. Relevant cuisine studies.

Project delivery - Quality improvement programmes.

Education & Experience:

Masters in Foods Technology.

Track record of commercial successes of product development, packaging development.

Min 15 years relevant work experience.

Sound food technology and regulatory knowhow.

- Good understanding of business dynamics in India.

- Experience in leading and managing a large team of Managers and executives.

Skills and Competencies:

Good Domain Knowledge of Food Technology and Quality/ regulatory functions.

Consumer Insights.

Prior project management experience.

Understanding of Food Industry in India.

Strong Leadership Skills.
