Position Overview:

MSCI is seeking a Vice President of Finance to help lead the financial management for the Technology & Data Services (TDS) Segment. The TDS segment works across MSCI to provide value added support in the areas of technology, operational support and project management. The TDS Finance Vice President will work closely with the TDS Finance Director to plan and manage the human and financial resources across the TDS platform, which includes 1,600 employees across 15 countries.

Responsibilities:

The Vice President of Finance will report to the Finance Director of Technology and Data Services. In this role s/he will provide advice and counsel to the business leaders regarding business opportunities and challenges, using financial metrics and analysis. The VP will manage a finance team of 3-4 people located in Mumbai.

The VP of Finance will work closely with the project management teams and will also develop systematic process for the firm to measure its return on investment. H/she will also measure and manage the capex spend across the firm. There is tremendous opportunity to enhance the efficiencies of the platform as the technology team implements a common strategic platform and the VP of Finance helps the Director of Finance ensure the capital being deployed is used efficiently and priced to reflect the optimal return on the investments.

- Developed traditional investment appraisal techniques and experience working with business units to build robust business cases

- Created rigorous discipline around cost analysis by working closely with the businesses to drive rigour in decision-making on cost issues

- Developed and maintained strong relationships with functional leaders to understand their service needs

- Proven skills in developing investment plans and driving financial execution

- Experience providing business management with insightful, relevant and timely information ensuring financial targets (revenue & EBITDA margin) including revenue, sales analysis and overall expense objectives are met

- Led monthly and quarterly financial segment reporting (will play a key role in the external financial statements reporting of the TDS Segment)

- Experience working cross functionally with new business and product development, Legal, Compliance, Operations and Technology

- Knowledge of activity based costing, and product line profitability

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

- Experience working in large finance team who support other functions e.g. financial reporting, accounting policy, FP&A, tax etc.

- Strong collaboration skills and comfortable providing indirect leadership

- Comfortable working in a global environment (Manager in US, team in Mumbai)

- Expertise in the operations and financial management of SaaS environment

- Operationally knowledgeable in developing and using SaaS metrics on profitability and growth

- Experience leading strategic initiatives and investments through understanding the competitive landscape, industry trends, market structure and the potential business impact

- Experience with product pricing and profitability review, large deal review & partnering with product & sales management

- Significant experience working with the Agile process for technology development preferred

- The ideal candidate should have at least 5 to 10 years experience in management positions in finance or the financial technology industry.

- Core financial competencies are a requirement along with strong leadership and business development skills.
