Your team responsibilities:


- MSCI ESG Ratings and Research is seeking a Senior Associate to join our team to work on our India specific ESG Ratings framework, focusing on Indian listed entities complying with BRSR (Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting) requirements. The selected candidate will primarily evaluate ESG profile of Indian listed companies as per MSCI's India ESG ratings methodology. The candidate will also be required to engage with clients and issuers to help address their queries or provide methodology clarifications.

Your key responsibilities:

- Evaluate ESG performance of Indian companies as per MSCI's India ESG Ratings model and deliver findings to clients via concise research reports

- Regularly monitor and assess any material events impacting companies' ESG profile

- Be updated with existing and upcoming regulations in India related to ESG - eg: climate, pollution, waste, occupational health and safety, corporate governance, etc.

- Act as subject matter expert for certain industries

- Respond to client and issuer queries in a timely manner

- Contribute to methodology enhancements in consultation with stakeholders

- Coordinate with internal and external suppliers in enhancing the quality of the data sourced and implement quality control measures

- Contribute to reporting and documentation to comply with regulatory requirements

Your skills and experience that will help you excel:

- Familiarity with ESG, climate and sustainability related concepts and themes; Background in Corporate Governance or advisory would be good to have.

- Strong analytical and statistical capabilities

- Excellent communication and presentation skills to clearly articulate ideas and facilitate strong relations with a diverse team of industry research analysts, technology, and operations teams.

- Experience in Microsoft Excel is preferred; Knowledge of any programing language (preferably Python) will be good to have

- Minimum five years of full-time professional experience in: ESG research industry, Corporate sustainability and advisory, Quantitative research within financial services, Data analyst/scientist roles within key industries

- Minimum of Bachelors' degree required; Advanced degree in related field (Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainability Management, Business) is preferred; completion or progress towards related professional degrees like CFA / CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, FRM/ SCR is preferred

- Prior experience in any kind of model development is desired
