Data Engineer / Data Analyst - Rotational Shift- 1PM -10 PM or 3PM-12 AM Description Morgan Stanley Research is seeking a Data Engineer / Data Analyst to join our data management team to help manage Research data products. The candidate will work closely with subject matter experts to perform data quality analysis, develop scripts, document and support new and existing data products. The candidate will also coordinate with technology and cross-divisional data teams to help design, test and enhance data pipeline management and distribution systems and processes. Job responsibilities - Analyze data, develop transformation scripts, remediate quality issues, and work collaboratively with SMEs to implement and test new data products - Provide Equity Research product support for clients and internal users of data products, help answer client related data feed questions. - Coordinate with technology teams to design, construct, install, test and maintain data management systems Technical Qualifications - Proficiency with Python for data analysis. Fluency in Excel, R, SQL is a plus - Experience with using data profiling tools to query data, identify anomalies, gaps and issues - Experience in performing root cause analysis on data-related issue. Experience working with data in various forms: files (Excel, csv), relational databases, data warehouses) - Experience and/or exposure to financial data; experience with datasets commonly used in investment Research analysis Required - Bachelors Degree from an accredited higher learning institution in engineering, data science, computer science, mathematics, economics. Msc is a plus but not required. No Phds - 0-3 years experience (junior), 5 + (senior) as a data analyst, data engineer, data scientist, or related quantitative analyst in financial organization (either banks, or funds) - 0 years experience in financial services industry - Excellent verbal and written communication skills presenting complex analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences in a succinct manner - Ability to decompose complex problems and projects into manageable pieces; comfortable suggesting and presenting solutions. Knowledge of Time Series will be preferred
