- Within Morgan Stanley, Credit Risk Management (CRM) evaluates credit risk transactions, especially loans and derivatives, from all business units within the Firm and approves, rejects or modifies them considering the availability and appropriateness of arrangements for reducing risk or risk mitigation. We also assign Internal Credit Ratings; establish and manage credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitor and report on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. We also interact with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.
- The Morgan Stanley Asia (incl. Japan) Credit Risk Management is currently seeking a responsible, enthusiastic, high-performing and hands-on credit risk professional with solid experience covering hedge funds (HFs).
Reporting to the Head of FI Credit you will have the following key responsibilities:
- Perform the credit analysis of the Asian hedge funds counterparties to evaluate the creditworthiness and identify credit strengths and key risks
- Manage the counterparty portfolio of hedge funds, mutual funds and private equity funds. Responsible for all aspects of credit risk management including counterparty due diligence, client onboarding, credit rating and reviews, risk limits setting, documentation negotiation, ongoing portfolio monitoring, trade approvals, etc.
- Regularly conduct quantitative portfolio analysis and stress testing at aggregate portfolio level as well as single counterparty level
- Maintain good relationships with work closely with relevant stakeholders within the firm (sales & traders, business unit risk managers, documentation team, legal & compliance, global counterparts, etc.)
- Maintain good dialogue with clients through due diligence calls and email communications
- Contribute to regional and global funds related regulatory projects/initiatives
- Work as part of a team of credit analysts/associates within the financial institutions team
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor degree/PG required. Quantitative background preferred
- Possess enthusiasm in finance/banking industry and eagerness to learn
- 5+ years experience with at least 3 years- experience in credit risk management of hedge fund clients
- Knowledge of traded products (e.g. equity, credit, and fixed income derivatives) and good understanding of capital markets
- Knowledge of common financial market documentation (ISDA/CSA, PRIMO, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Database skills (SQL, VBA, etc.) and other programming skills is preferred
- Willing to and able to manage multiple tasks independently including an ability to prioritize deliverables and manage long-term projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be collaborative and a good team player with strong initiative and appetite to learn in a fast-paced environment and mentor more junior colleagues
