Role/Responsibilities :

- We are looking for an AVP/Manager to help build, and manage a newly-establish model validation review team situated in the Methodology Review Group (MRG), which is Moody's internal analytical review function. This team, and this role, will be responsible for the initial and ongoing validation of credit rating models globally and across all asset classes.

- The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record of interacting directly with stakeholders, taking the initiative on complex issues, bringing tasks to a resolution quickly and managing other more junior members of the team. Prior management experience highly desirable.

- This is an excellent opportunity to work directly with thought leaders in credit risk and gain global exposure to a variety of asset classes with a strong focus on structured finance, but with the remit to cover banking, corporate finance, public finance, and all other rating groups in Moody's.

- This role will suit a highly-motivated problem solver with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to use their own initiative to identify new and better approaches to model validation. The role requires the success candidate to be the senior representative of MRG in the Bangalore office and work alongside senior leaders from other groups.

Key Responsibilities :

- Work alongside MRG senior leadership to design and implement a comprehensive initial and ongoing model validation program.

- Help recruit, hire, and manage four additional members of this new validation team.

- Supervise and/or support efforts to improve the quality of, and governance around, the validation of existing and new models.

- Work with managers to create and maintain technical documentation around the validation of credit rating models.

- Act as a key point of contact to methodology and model development group to ensure consistency of rating models across sectors and transparency on how model validation is implemented.

- Build and maintain relationships with analytical staff and management

- Coach and develop other members of the team

- Participate in professional training for analytical staff

Qualifications :

- Strong academic background, MSc or PhD in relevant areas like Financial Engineering, Mathematical , Finance or Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Statistics.

- Very strong understanding of fixed income and financial mathematics; understating of structured finance is a plus.

- Prior management experience is a strong plus.

- Experience in credit models and analyzing data. A good understanding of econometrics and applied statistics is a strong plus.

- Experience managing the interaction with key stakeholders, communicating complex model issues to senior management and approval groups.

- Strong quantitative aptitude.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to communicate clearly and succinctly.

- Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at one time.

- Fluency in English is essential
