Asia Africa Tax Lead is responsible for managing tax portfolio of 41 legal entities across 23 countries in region with 4 direct reports and 2 contract staff. As the Lead is required to work with lots of international stakeholders, it has to work with all Big 4 firms across the Region.   Here are Key Responsibility Areas:  1. Forecasting & Controls  - Set / review / explore improvements in tax processes and guidance on implementation  - Monthly tax provisions & deferred tax and valuation allowance analysis   - Review tax accounts reconciliations and online certifications  - Work with the stakeholders on tax forecasting, facilitate GAM submissions, carry out Regional Reivew and facilitate second level Saint Louis (- STL- ) tax review   - Carry out FIN 48 analysis for open tax position, seek opinions from advisors and held conversations with the STL tax leader  - Help the Regional Tax Team in completing Tax Basis Balance Sheet and Return to Tax Provision exercise  - Lead Tax Balance Sheet Review - Work with stakeholders on data preparation, data review, presentation to Global Tax & Controllership and respond to follow-ups   - Work with Global Tax Process Lead on tax controlled enovirnment and tax trasnformation initiatives   - Periodic connect with STL tax leader on Regional Tax report back  - Assistance in tax cash forecasting and support STL on effective tax rate queries  - Tax trainings to larger finance orgnization and shared service center  - Present / Participate Regional Tax updates / perspective in Global Tax Leadership Forum   2. Tax Compliance & Litigation  - Work with the Regional tax team and relevant stakeholders in computation of taxes, review / approval and facilitating payments  - Work with commercial teams and STL transfer pricing team on all related inter-company trransactions (from transfer price / transactional tax to documentation)   - Work with various internal and external stakeholders (including Global Compliance Service provider) in preparation, review and filing of corporate tax returns, transfer pricing certifications, RnD claims and VAT / GST returns   - Work with the Regional tax team and tax advisors in defending tax positions during audits / assessments and appeals  - Lead litigation stratgies with tax advisors and advocates, allign internal stakeholders and implement them (including attendance in hearings and updated to larger leadership team)   - Follow-up for tax refunds with help of tax advisors  - Managing relationaship with Big 4 tax advisors across the Region  3. Tax Strategies  - Entity restrcuring- from Ideation till implementation to facilitate simple strcture and ease in operations  - Cash repatration - from ideation and collaboration till actual cash remittance - aim at tax and time efficient   - Develop cash funding options with help of the Regional Treasury Lead and eliminate Inter-company loans   - India GST implemention and smooth transition   - Holding Co strcuturing - Support STL tax leader in Dutch Holding Co strcturing  - Work with tax advocates / advisors and explore ways of mitigation of tax litigations  - Explore ideas of bringing down effective tax rate for each country in the Region, carry out feasiblity and make recommandation to Regional Finance and Global Tax leadership team  4. People  - Identify key strendths and areas of development of the Regional Tax Team  - Help the Regional Tax Team in setting their goals, guide them through execution, coach them through trainings (in-house or otherwise), periodic 1x1 sessions etc.  - Help Regional Tax team in their Individual Development Plan  - Provide and receive feedback with action plan
