BASIC PURPOSE : - The Legal Manager will be responsible for providing legal support to the Mondelez Factory at Baddi (near Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh) and Malanpur (near Gwalior, MP). The position reports to Senior Legal Counsel at HO and is primarily focused on managing Legal matters at one or more of our factories and or Corporate Functions. - The incumbent is expected to bring a business orientation and focus on problem solving, while upholding strong ethics and integrity across the organization. - The Legal Manager will be charged with providing high quality and responsive legal support and guidance to the relevant factory/ies as part of the Legal team; establishing collaborative relationships with colleagues for effective business partnering of functions; manage litigation through external legal resources within budgets as directed by the Legal Counsel; and highlight and manage risk in areas supported. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES : Listed below are a series of brief key statements which describe the Principal Accountabilities of this role : 1. Provide legal support and risk evaluation to relevant factory, through : - Contract drafting- work with stakeholders at the sites across functions and other functions at the HO, understand their requirements and provide necessary legal solution - Undertake the necessary risk analysis as and when required in relation to notices received from regulators (including without limitation from the Labour department, different industry ministerial departments, environment protection authorities, local authorities etc.) and/or private parties in relation to a dispute or a potential legal issue - Being able to advice on artworks and having a thorough knowledge of packaging regulations like those under the Legal Metrology and FSSAI regulations - Ensuring appropriate protection of intellectual property - Identification and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations - Policy interpretation, development and training - Litigation support (both criminal and civil) and support for customer claims - Negotiate and managing external legal fees within agreed budgets - Provide legal support for major projects in the relevant factory as delegated by Counsel and manage the Factory Stakeholder maps 2. Establish a culture of compliance throughout the relevant factory through all forms of advice, communication, role modelling and training and includes : - Overseeing corporate governance and compliance with law and policy - Policy interpretation, development and training - Implementing effective compliance training programs for policies owned by the Legal function 3. Participate in and contribute to the Global Legal department's knowledge management and productivity building initiatives as agreed with the Counsel on an annual basis OTHER COMPETENCIES : - Robust knowledge of local law and regulations (knowledge of regulations relating to the Food Industry would be an added advantage) - Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey legal advice and documentation in a commercially sound and relevant manner - Sound judgment and business sense - Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with a wide variety of managers across a wide variety of business disciplines - Strong customer focus, yet have the ability to give independent advice - Knowledge of domestic and international FMCG/Foods industry, competitors and regulatory environment - Ability to manage numerous matters and competing priorities and to work within a matrix set up Candidate Experience Profile : Education : Degree in Law from a recognized University Experience : At least 5-6 years Post Qualification experience as in-house legal advisor in a large corporation with multiple locations and manufacturing facilities. Experience in FMCG or Food companies preferred.
