The Program Officer would work in the New Delhi based Liaison office team under the leadership of the Country Director, India and report into the Initiative Lead. This position would primarily focus on building and supporting our current grants and investments portfolio across different sectors, and play a senior, leadership role in several of the Foundation's India activities.  In addition, and as a result of our small organizational size and broad scope of work, each Michael & Susan Dell Foundation employee assumes a highly visible role in the work of the foundation and, as such, also assumes an important and unique responsibility for the effective articulation and communication of the foundation's priorities and work.  The Program Officer will have an opportunity to engage with a wide variety of audiences ranging from investees, grantees, co-funder's, bankers, raters, consultants & policymakers to the Founders and Board Members of the Foundation.   - The Foundation is looking for candidates who have demonstrated strong business acumen, leadership in operations, top notch interpersonal and communication skills, and who possess the maturity and judgment to be an effective representative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation.   - The successful candidate will not only have the ability to offer effective solutions to complex problems of urban poverty, and the critical challenges faced by our existing and potential investees an and grantees, but will also be able to quickly and concisely communicate complex ideas in engaging ways.  Job Title : Program Officer ( India)  Reporting to : Initiative Lead, India Michael and Susan Dell Foundation  Location : New Delhi, India  Purpose: Independently build and lead a projects portfolio that delivers measurable (and sustainable) positive impact on children through various interventions which are focus areas for the Foundation's work in India viz. school education, financial services to poor and skill training.  Play a senior, leadership role in several of the Foundation's activities in India, facilitate the overall program implementation of MSDF India (with a fanatical eye for detail), and emerge as a thought leader for the Foundation.  Operating Network:  Internal:   - India Leadership including Managing Director - International, Country Director - India  - Initiative Leads  - Operations Manager  - Program Officers  - Executive Assistant  - Team at MSDF Headquarters  External:  - Indian Foundations  - Investees/ Grantees  - Co-funders/ investors  - Bankers  - Board members of Investees/ grantees  - Senior Government of India officials  - Multilateral/ Bilateral/ Large private donors  - Various Government agencies  Specific Responsibilities:  - Support the development of the Foundation's strategy   - Support the MSDF team in developing and updating a detailed, fact-based, action-oriented portfolio strategy that is focused on impacting the quality of life in a measurable, large-scale and sustainable manner.  Strategy implementation:  - Help implement strategy by building relationships with a variety of potential investees/ grantees at several levels and in varying agreed-upon geographies, and work with them to create new projects, engage in the problem-solving, administer them, monitor and report results - relatively independently (with fanatical attention to detail), in order to develop a successful program  Education / Experience required :  - Professional / Masters qualification from a leading university / institute, with 8 - 12 years of work experience in a multinational or leading Indian business entity.   - Experience in Consulting, Investments, Corporate Finance, Operations or Strategic Project Management would be desirable.   - Demonstrated ability to think conceptually using strong analytical skills, to effectively influence a wide cross-section of people across organizations  - Identify and implement solutions to address complex business problems.   - Strong spoken and written communication skills.  Skills required :  - Exceptional leadership/management  - Strong communication (written & verbal)  - Strong business acumen  - Entrepreneurial & risk taking ability  - Strong - end-product- orientation  - Passion about development work (readiness to look at seemingly intractable social challenges in new ways)  - Well-developed project management skills  - Unquestioned values and ethics  - Drive to create/initiate new initiatives, and not just react to proposals  Technical Knowledge :  - Analytical, fact-based problem solving and implementation.   - Good understanding of equity investments, valuations and business planning and understanding of financial, budgeting and accounting processes.  Interested candidates can send in their updated CV's mandatory mentioning :  Current and expected CTC and Reason for interest in the role.
