Analytical Modeller (Business Analytics, Predictive Modelling)

The Analytical Modeler applies statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to business data, to describe, predict, and improve business performance. The Analytical Modeler plays a role across the entire information value chain, i.e., in the creation of descriptive and predictive models to gain valuable knowledge from historic data and uses this insight to recommend action or to guide decision making. The Analytical Modeler will use their strong industry and academic background to develop solutions across business functions and industries.

1. Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain and enhance statistical and mathematical predictive models, in specific business areas like Customer, Finance, Risk, Operations, etc

- Deliver data driven insights on various business problems across the customer/operations/finance/risk/marketing/fraud functions, with focus on the business outcomes, using tools like SAS, SPSS, R, etc

- Create a variety of predictive/statistical/stochastic models to enable diverse business requirements related to data mining, pattern matching, segmentation, scenario analysis, sentiment analysis, survival analysis, transaction modelling, etc

- Conceptualize modelling framework, define data requirements and create predictive variables, that enable the generation of analytical insights

- Recommend and implement methodologies from statistics and computational science to answer research questions and synthesize insights that achieve business objectives

- Leverage state-of-the-art data mining tools, modelling techniques and set up experimental designs to answer business questions

- Document findings by developing clear and concise presentations and reports

- Continuously monitor models, evaluate impact of changes, re-design and provide analytical recommendations

- Contribute toward practice development by creating IP for the organization

- Work closely with the rest of Data & Analytics architecture team to embed Analytical outputs into the business process to drive decision making

- Understand the implications of big data in the enterprise and involve data scientists for suitable opportunities

2.1 Technical Skills

- Strong credentials in a similar role, and 5+ years of hands-on experience in the creation of data architectures

- PhD or Masters Degree in Statistics from a reputed University, or equivalent experience with strong domain specialization in one of the areas – risk, operations, marketing, finance, economics, etc

- Proven ability to identify and resolve issues and break down complex problems into their core components and communicate the issues concisely

- Knowledge of forecasting and statistical modelling techniques, market research and multivariate analysis tools (e.g., factor and cluster analysis, conjoint analysis etc.)

- Understanding of analytical and modelling opportunities across a variety of industries like Financial Services, Manufacturing, Retail, Healthcare, Utilities, etc

- Hands-on model design and building experience using SAS/R/SPSS with ability to display proficiency in data management and manipulation skills in order to perform job requirements

2.2 Soft Skills

- Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to influence discussions on business value propositions

- Possess a data-driven mindset, and have deep analytical and problem solving skills

- Able to organize, coordinate, and direct users and teams

- Experience of working with distributed and remote teams

- High degree of personal motivation and ability to self-manage

- Self motivated, analytical and detail oriented

- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
