Meesho - Cluster Head - Warehousing Operations

About Meesho :

Meesho is building a disruptive distribution channel via social selling on WhatsApp, Facebook, and other social channels. Meesho has so far enabled more than 50 thousand suppliers and 7 million entrepreneurs to start and grow their online business without any investment, providing tools around sourcing, logistics and payments. These entrepreneurs are small retailers, housewives, students, retired citizens, and many other aspiring entrepreneurs across India.

Farmiso :

Grocery has the biggest share of the overall retail spend in India and is projected to be a $800B market in 2024, of which the majority contribution comes from non-metro cities. Grocery market in Metro and Tier 1 has become crowded with a lot of players trying to solve the supply chain but the higher cost of logistics restricts these players to disrupt the lower tiers.

At Farmiso, we are building the most cost-effective distribution channel using micro entrepreneurs to disrupt the grocery market in lower tier cities of India. We are onto the journey of creating a hyperlocal farmer marketplace for fresh food and vegetables and solve the intermediate inefficiencies in the distribution system.

Farmiso is an early stage mini start-up within Meesho with a completely different supply chain and modus operandi. We are a bunch of high energy enthusiasts working towards creating something cool and something big.

Job Brief :

We are looking to onboard the Cluster Head, who will take end to end ownership of operational activity of all the warehouses of Karnataka while leading the expansion of warehouses across the region. Key metrics to own : SLAs, Asset Utilization, and P&L of warehouses. The key objectives of this role will to :

1) Drive cost efficiency & revenue maximization targets through high utilization of assets and manpower.

2) Work closely with the leadership team to build AOPs for the organization and break down demand & supply as per category.

3) Responsible for designing supply chain, finalizing layout as per Operations management.

4) Responsible for new city launches for grocery business within the south cluster.

5) The role will involve a mix of product & process-driven problem solving and would need the individual to focus on providing sustainable solutions.

6) Ensuring a robust capacity, manpower and van planning by considering all external and internal factors impact.

What we are looking for :

A strong problem solver with first principle thinking, ready to get hands dirty while leading large teams, someone who eats, sleeps and breathes ownership and is looking forward to being in an extremely high impact role.

Potential Backgrounds :

1) 5+ years of managing Grocery / F&V operations of multiple warehouses.

2) IIT + Factory operations (HUL / ITC etc. - 2-3 years) + Grocery warehouse experience (2-3 Years)

3) Have experience of setting up grocery warehousing operations from scratch in early / mid stage grocery companies like: Dealshare / Milkbasket / DailyNinja / Super Daily / CityMall / Flipkart Grocery / Big Basket etc.
