We analyze equipment productivity, cost and labor performance against a detailed, normalized and structured set of global benchmarks developed through our work with over 130 mining operations.   The analyst's role within the MineLens is to assist McKinsey consulting teams and mining operations, providing expert client service in strategic and operational topics and contributing to new product development that expands MineLens capabilities.   Our analysts will be based at McKinsey's Knowledge Centre (McKC), in Gurgaon.   Responsibilities:   Demonstrate expert client service in mining, i.e. run operational excellence diagnostics at mines to determine potential opportunities for transformation   Assist client in data collection, perform quantitative analysis of client data, and incorporate qualitative observations into benchmark reports to clients   Participate in new product development of innovative approaches to mining data analytics   Support consulting teams and clients, as required, to conduct analyses off-site and on-site   Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and competitor offerings   Desired Skills & Mindset:   Applicants should possess a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering from a reputed (IIT or ISM Dhanbad) institute and about 2-4 years of relevant work experience. Exceptional candidates with qualifications in related fields may be considered.   Excellent written and oral communication skills   Superior problem-solving and analytical skills   Significant understanding of the industry dynamics of the mining sector; passion for analytics and interest in developing new approaches to mining data analysis and application to operational improvement   Willing to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment   Exhibit self-motivation and high service-orientated work ethic
