Energy Insights leverages analytical tools, proprietary data and specialist expertise to:   - Develop McKinsey’s fundamental analytical capabilities to provide in-depth macro-economic and industry insights  - Streamline McKinsey’s Due Diligence service to become the leading provider to Private Equity and other investors in oil & gas   - Scale up McKinsey’s global multi-client benchmarking service on front-line oil & gas operations performance   Overview of the Position   Energy Insights is seeking a Global Energy Market Analyst for its Analytics group. Focusing on the broader energy sector, you will deliver market analyses and forecasts for both the internal and external clients and develop bespoke insights. This is a full time, client-service role that lies at the heart of an exciting extension of the consulting service offered by one of the world’s top strategy consultancies.   As a Global Energy Market Analyst with Energy Insights you will spend most or all of your time developing proprietary insights and services and deploy these for and with clients. Consequently you will have an excellent opportunity to:   - Help build a new entrepreneurial knowledge based business. Energy Insights is expected to grow substantially within the next five years   - Develop consulting expertise in the area of global energy demand. As Energy Insights grows, the start-up, business oriented experience you gain will help position you to advance to more senior roles   Deliverables of the Position   - Tools development: As an Energy Market Analyst, you will contribute to daily problem solving, structuring, modeling and analytic support for our Global Energy Demand tools and related analyses. You will be asked to gather the information necessary to develop these tools and to synthesize your findings into targeted, McKinsey-formatted products. Frequently, these products may be in the form of complex models and summary reports which evolve into standalone presentations that outline key findings and recommendations to internal and external audiences.  - Knowledge development. You are expected to deepen your Global Energy markets expertise through this role, specializing in the main energy demand sectors over time and developing your analytical approach as well as thought-partnership skills. You will work closely with senior expert practitioners on building synthesized perspectives for clients as well as state-of-the-art knowledge and analytical tool development. You will also need to become familiar with the McKinsey knowledge network. A deep understanding of your specific content area, along with salient issues and implications to industry players, will form the basis for advancement in the Analytics career track.  - Serving Clients: You will serve internal and external client teams, on-site or remotely, by delivering on their solution needs, ranging from basic data requests to bespoke energy demand models. In some cases, you will work together with other analysts as a team to serve clients, while in other cases, you will get an opportunity to deliver projects independently.   Qualifications & Skills   You must have:   - Post Graduate from a leading University in Management, Engineering, Economics, or any other quantitative focused discipline.  - 2-4 years of Industry experience as a market analyst (equity markets, sectors etc.) or consultant in a client facing role, preferably in the Oil and Gas sector.  - Sufficient exposure to applying microeconomic and financial modeling, preferably in the areas of energy supply and demand forecasting  - Excellent written and oral communication skills, superior problem solving, analytical skills, interpersonal effectiveness and leadership potential.  - Capable of computer programming, familiarity with VBA or any object orientated language   - Foreign language skills will be appreciated   As a Global Energy Market Analyst you will be:   - A strategic and creative thinker who is able to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly   - Possess a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset   - Possess a professional attitude and service orientation   - Willingness to work in a highly demanding and results-oriented team environment   - Team player capable of working well with others but also autonomously with limited direction   - Possess strong multi-tasking abilities  - Ability to work in a global team set up
