Summary : Department : Knowledge Services Location : Powai - Mumbai, India Job Title : Senior Manager - Catastrophe Modelling Delivery Reports to : Head - Knowledge Services Background : - Team The catastrophe modelling team of Knowledge Services at JLT India operates as a center of excellence for Guy Carpenter (GC). The team comprises of 20+ high performing catastrophe modelers primarily working on modelling requests from catastrophe modelling leaders for all major Guy Carpenter global clients. Senior Manager - Catastrophe Modelling Delivery : Role Requirements : - Provide Catastrophe modelling support for the Global P&C Broking team. Planning and executing exposure data manipulation and production of modeled loss estimates of our client's exposure to Natural Catastrophes. - Identify and present areas where improvements may be made enabling tasks to be completed in a more efficient manner - Communicate effectively, with global catastrophe modelling leaders across the group, the impact of all work undertaken, particularly in identifying model or data issues and suggest appropriate remedial actions - Manage the catastrophe modelling team in Mumbai, and ensure implementation of robust quality management, hiring and training framework for the team - Maintain awareness of, and comply on an ongoing basis, with the requirements of relevant professional/legal/regulatory/risk management frameworks - Manage modelling priorities and deal flow in accordance to deal materiality and business requirements - Review modelling results and ensure that internal quality standards are met before results are used in the pricing process - Maintain their view of Nat cat risks with help from underwriting and risk teams - Periodic review of cat model updates and model validation - Ensure relevant model documentation and policies are up to date - Identify non-(vendor) modelled Nat cat exposures and ensure that such exposures are appropriately captured in the pricing process - Develop and maintain basic in-house cat model benchmarks (e.g. industry loss curves) - Maintain regular Nat cat exposure aggregation reports and assist in the portfolio roll up - Provide cat model data for the clients business planning, capital modelling process and exposure management returns - Manage post loss event response process and provide the claims and reserving teams with relevant data and information - Understand business requirements and ensure that their cat modelling incorporates all relevant market trends. Keep abreast of cat model developments in the wider market. Technical Skills : - At least 13 + years of experience in re-insurance or insurance industry - Good to have a Master's degree in quantitative stream or an MBA (Finance) from a premier institute. - Good to have industry certifications like CPCU, ARe to demonstrate reinsurance knowledge - Should possess hands on experience in advanced Excel capabilities in historical work experience. - Experience of advanced modelling capabilities in either R and Python - Should have experience of leading CAT Modelling teams in past. - Has in depth knowledge of reinsurance processes and is building reputation as an industry expert in this domain. - Has the ability to interpret complex data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports. - Apply creative solutions to consolidate complex information and present in an understandable format. - Can work with limited information while solving complex scenarios. Ability to use judgement in handling complex cases. General Skills : - Strong educational background, having been educated to degree level in a relevant field, which could include Maths, Science and Geography. - Strong problem solving, organisation and numerical skills - Strong communicator with an ability to build relationships with stakeholders and present information - Project Management certification like PMP, PRINCE2 preferred although not essential - Ideally exposure to working with Python, SQL or R, although not essential - Ideally exposure to Solvency II, although not essential - General understanding of Insurance principles and concepts
