JOB TITLE: Policy Analyst REPORTS TO: Manager - Research DEPARTMENT: Research JOB SUMMARY The Policy Analyst is responsible for undertaking the study of economic governance and corporate policies based on deep and robust research and analytical capabilities. Strategic awareness is an essential requisite of the role. The Policy Analyst will evaluate the effectiveness of policy options and may have to work across a range of policy areas. The Policy Analyst will have a well-developed ability to apply good knowledge of core study areas (eg: economic research, national competitiveness, corporate governance, etc.) to key application-oriented policy issues. In carrying out this work the analyst should work with a minimum of supervision. DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: ANALYTICAL: - Research policy topics ranging from international political economy to broader innovation strategies. - Collate and analyze information, such as data from public sources, surveys and specialist agency reports. - Deploy qualitative and quantitative sources and processes to develop and scrutinize theories. - Assess how policies affect the public and other institutional stakeholders. - Monitor policy decisions and emergent trends and connected issues with implications for governance and policy landscape. - Author reports and develop presentations. STRATEGIC - Supporting internal senior management research requests on various topics as the case may be. - Consistently tracking and implementing best practices in research, data collection and presentation. - Looking out for ways to refine content presentation to reach more members of the target audience. TECHNICAL SKILLS The candidate should possess the following technical skills: - Quantitative analysis - Report writing skills - Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Power Point QUALIFICATIONS MBA / Post Graduate degree in Economics and / or Public Policy or related discipline. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Preferred - 1-3 years experience, with exposure in research writing.
