Markit - AVP - Data Operations - Index Administration Services

- Markit Indices provides index-related services to clients which include investment banks, asset managers, hedge funds and insurance companies. Our products span cover global equity & fixed income markets and include globally recognized benchmarks such as our branded index families including iBoxx, iTraxx and our Markit PMI economic indices. Indices also provide related services which provide Index and ETP constituent aggregation and analysis to manage risk, attribute performance and inform investment decisions.

Position summary :

- Index Administration Services is looking for a highly experienced and dynamic individual to take responsibility for the support and maintenance of its exchange traded data, a critical component of the business.

Duties & Accountabilities :

- Support new index builds by sourcing and mapping all exchange traded, data points

- Ensure data compliance with IOSCO standards and industry best practice.

- Ensure data compliance with the Markit Content Acquisition and Rights Management team

- Take responsibility for processes ensuring the quality of raw data and the consistency and integrity across all asset classes.

- Test quality of new data prior to release to the new index build team

- Represent the data team on a number of different projects and work with teams on improving and operationalizing data management processes.

- Ensure that data cleaning and quality control processes are put in place, working with asset-class SMEs to specify improvements and with the technology team to implement them.

Business competencies :

Education and experience :

- Experience in data analysis applied to traded financial instruments, gained within banking or financial services

- Proficiency in ThomsonReutersEikon, Datascope Select and Tick History

- Experience in manipulation and validation of large and complex sets of traded information

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills

- Good undergraduate or Masters degree from a recognised university in a numerical, financial or technical discipline

Commercial awareness :

- Appreciation of the business criticality of data quality, gained within previous roles

- A good understanding of the data landscape is important

Management requirements : Any previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing staff is preferred
