Responsibilities:

Team Management

- Actively manage a portfolio scope and sourcing project team across multiple countries with spend ranging between - 150-250 million

- Key role in the team to ensure savings over 10 million are delivered

- Manage reporting line staff placement, promoting the hiring of individuals with exceptional potential or proven practitioners.

- Set Direct Line staff goals and objectives, in line with the jointly agreed outcomes set in conjunction with the Portfolio Director

- Jointly set objectives by sub portfolio and set performance measures, undertake personal reviews to reflect achievements against targets and agree continuous improvement, analyse performance and skill gaps. Agree development requirements and training plans.

- Ensure Personal Development Plans are complete, training plans executed, and that training effectiveness is monitored

Business Relationship management

- Develop strong relationships with the senior Marketing and CD stakeholder community cluster and in-country

- Provide information to the MBS Cluster leads so they can effect local business engagement in support of the portfolio - in all markets where marketing procurement teams are not co-located

- Confirm and work on the marketing and CD stakeholder buy in order to co-create strategic plans and implement the strategic plans

- Ensure provision of timely supply market knowledge to the Cluster operations when relevant

- Provide a service to ensure the portfolio suppliers are clearly understood and the supply market control is established across all markets

- Help develop and execute ongoing communications with the business for the selected sourcing strategies and progress for clusters within area of spend responsibility.

Overall Portfolio Management

- All activities below are effected directly by the role holder in Portfolios assigned to self or through direct line management of Portfolio procurement team members in their sub Portfolios

- Gain a clear understanding of the range of goods and services that fall within the Portfolio are concerned.

- Oversee the application of ethical compliance, ensuring sourcing arrangements are fully compliant, and that requirements such as authority to commit are fully implemented

- Understand and manage key risk areas in the Portfolio and report on mitigation steps taken

Portfolio Sourcing

- Lead and/or participate in sourcing projects and activities within spend portfolio responsibility (both regionally & globally),

- Ensure sub portfolio team promote and encourage an outward focus on supply base, and that pro-active, investigative supply market tracking, and receptiveness to innovation and change instigated by suppliers, are both rewarded behaviours

- Reduce variability in demand by negotiation to maximise value for money over lifetime cost of goods or services (which can require push back to change perceptions or re-analysis of individual requirements for the greater corporate value). Ensure appropriate quality of specifications to support effective sourcing. Revisit specifications in light of supplier assistance

- Involve suppliers at the earliest opportunity in all requirement-raising stages, both during the longer-term category review period and during ongoing demand periods. Maximise supplier involvement in specification setting, and focus upon consolidation of requirements across business units and consolidation of similar materials and services

- Enact strategic planning including:

- Development of business requirements and complete supplier market analysis

- Analyse and categorise the different suppliers using appropriate tools - develop supply market knowledge and insight

- Development of appropriate sourcing strategies, in collaboration with colleagues

- Develop a deep understanding of and rigorously apply our strategic sourcing process and tools.

- Enable and facilitate the implementation of the approved sourcing strategies and / or execute or lead others in the execution of, sourcing events in accordance with the strategy, including steps to:

- Review potential supply base, and establish consistent supplier selection process

- Develop a timetable for supplier interactions with formal tendering, response and iterative data and pricing requests when required, or other forms of supplier proposal management

- Analyse costs, focusing on total acquisition costs, including activity based review and understanding suppliers- cost drivers

- Ensure broad and active competitive bidding appropriate to category strategy. Use agreed RFI/RFP documents as appropriate

- Active use of e-Sourcing tools either directly or through sourcing technical team support deploying e-RFIs, e-RFPs, e-auctions, and e-exchanges where appropriate

- Develop and implement well thought through negotiation plans

- Lead and drive supplier negotiations, planning interactions and outcomes, and assessing success against desired outcomes

- Formalise the relationship and negotiation results with deploying IP Purchasing Agreements and Contracts, using standard contracts where possible, otherwise include value adding non-standard terms and conditions through liaison with legal to ensure corporate compliance

- Develop jointly agreed performance measurement framework with key suppliers including service level agreements and non-performance penalties. Motivate supply base with rewards and incentives

- Ensure continuous performance monitoring of suppliers through total acquisition cost model

Portfolio Supplier Management

- Identify, select and manage key suppliers for continuous improvement through rigorous cost and value analysis including having an external view and appreciate for what constitutes best in class

- Ensure the effective implementation of awarded supplier

- Build liaison points with key suppliers within remit of the team and be involved in business critical discussions with them if required

- Engage with key functional business partners in enabling ongoing supplier relationship management, monitoring, review and continuous improvement.

Engagement in MBS Procurement Leadership

- Provide procurement expertise and market knowledge as owner of the supply markets for specified clusters within area of spend responsibility in identifying opportunities and exploiting these for the company

- Develop the portfolio Sourcing team reporting to him/her.
