Marketing Director - FMCG/Durables

I have a Marketing Director role with one of my clients which is a India, US & Africa based VC funded organization in the field of solar lighting. Willingness and ability to work in a entrepreneurial setup is very critical to this role. This role will report directly into the CEO

The Director of Marketing will lead brand development for the organization across the firm’s global markets, working closely with sales leadership and global channel partners across 20+ countries to formulate their brand value proposition and identity. This person will develop communications strategies tailored to fit target markets in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia and mobilize these strategies by working closely with in-house sales force and external channel partners to oversee brand activation execution.

The Director of Marketing will work closely with technology leaders to drive the Firm consumer and market innovation portfolio and serve as the organization's consumer insights knowledge center. This role involves a high degree of strategic decision-making and rigorous market research related to social impact, consumer buying behaviours, brand satisfaction and new market opportunities.

The ideal candidate has:

- At least 8 -10 years in high-level strategic marketing or brand manager roles within East Africa or India. We’re looking for demonstrated creative and entrepreneurial strengths leveraging deep consumer understanding to design and drive mass-market, consumer-focused communications strategies and go to market plans.

- Strong analytical market research experience. Demonstrated experience using statistical models and data-based reasoning to design market research and deliver useful quantitative and qualitative insights

- Stellar written communication skills. Fluency in Kswahili or Hindi preferred.

- Strong, structured project management skills.

The position involves 8-12 days of travel per month to Firm operations within India and Africa.
