Market Risk + ALM/FTP
Focus area of work
- Engage with clients (banks, NBFCs and financial institutions) at various levels and ensure project execution as per project plan
- Independently drive and execute projects for banking and financial services firms
- Provide inputs in project planning and ensure project execution within agreed time and effort estimates
- Assist in system evaluation, selection and implementation for various systems
- Providing assistance on other risk management engagements in the BFSI space such as market risk and treasury engagements
- Assist in enhancing current solutions and/or developing new solutions based on market needs and client requirements
- Assist in developing marketing collateral, Thought Leadership and proposals
Key areas of responsibility
Asset liability management (‘ALM’) and fund transfer pricing (‘FTP’)
1. Advisory for design of ALM & FTP framework
- Engage with clients to understand specific problem areas and deficiencies, if any, pertaining to ALM and FTP
- Recommend remedial action steps to address gaps identified
- Develop FTP mechanism for clients
- Develop policies, procedures and associated documents for ALM/FTP frameworks
- Develop business requirement specification document and Request for Proposal (“RFP’) for ALM/FTP systems
2. Vendor evaluation and selection for various systems (including ALM/FTP, market risk and/or treasury systems)
- Develop evaluation criteria for vendors evaluation
- Assist clients in conducting vendor demonstrations and final selection of vendors
3. System implementation assistance to clients and vendors
- Provide end to end support to clients (banks and financial institutions) and vendors during the system implementation, providing functional inputs as and when required
- Assist vendors in implementation of the system through business requirement analysis and preparation of FRS & SRS document on the basis of analysis conducted
- Assist vendors in data mapping and validation as well as in conducting User Acceptance Testing (‘UAT’) for the system
- Provide trainings and knowledge transfer sessions to users on an on-going basis
4. Market leadership
- Assist in development of new solutions for the firm to provide to clients based on market requirements and service line strategy
- Develop Thought Leadership articles around solutions to create market awareness and visibility
- Participate in organizing symposiums, conferences etc. to create better brand and solution visibility
Professional experience/Mandatory requirements
- Experience of 2 to 5 years, ideally in a software firm, with experience in implementing ALM/FTP solutions at least two financial institutions (ideally on behalf of system vendors)
- Experience in banks or other financial institutions would also be considered provided the candidate has hands-on experience of at least one ALM/FTP system implementation
- Comprehensive understanding of Asset Liability Management, Fund Transfer Pricing and Profitability frameworks
- Understanding of risk management metrics and methodologies for liquidity risk and interest rate risk, including Basel III ratios
- Knowledge of typical products offered by banks in India and cash-flow patterns corresponding to each product
- Experience of developing FRS and/or SRS documents based on business requirement analysis conducted
- Experience in data requirement analysis, mapping and data validation
- Experience of conducting UATs for system implementations
- Knowledge of how to configure ALM/FTP systems would be an added advantage
- Moderate understanding of Basel II and Basel III related aspects
Academic qualifications:
- The ideal candidate would be an Engineering graduate with significant experience in implementing systems for ALM/FTP, market risk and/or Treasury
- Post Graduation in Finance or other additional certifications such as FRM, PRM etc. would be an added advantage
