JOB DESCRIPTION

A training and development lead handles the learning and professional development of an organization’s workforce.

Training and development lead help with the ongoing, long-term improvement of employees' skills, enabling them to fulfil their potential within their organization. Increasingly, training and development lead is required to be strategic rather than reactive, assessing the skills and knowledge within an organization and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills.

BROAD RESPONSIBILITIES

- Identifying training and development needs within an organization through job analysis and regular consultation with managers of various departments

- Develop, implement, and monitor training programs within an organization.

- Producing training materials for in-house courses and for external customers

- Managing the delivery of training and development programs and devising a training strategy for the organization

- Monitoring and reviewing the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with managers

- Keeping up to date with developments in training by reading product manuals, going to meetings and attending discussions with product teams

- Having an understanding of e-learning techniques, and where relevant, being involved in the creation and/or delivery of e-learning packages;

- Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.

- Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.

- Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as classroom training, distance and e-learning, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.

Roles and responsibilities

- Create courses and training materials.

- Create training and evaluation processes

- Develop and organize training manuals, multimedia visual aids, presentations and other educational materials including e-learning when suitable

- Developing effective induction programs

- Speaking with other managers to identify training priorities

- Drawing up an overall training plan

- Working with external clients to develop customized training programs

- Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.

- Train instructors or facilitators in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees.

- Plan, develop, and manage training programs.

Required skills

- 6-8 years of experience in training and development field

- Majority of the experience should be from product based companies

- Ability to work independently to develop courses and training materials for enterprise level products

- Good communicator, able to present with credibility and authority

- Innovative, able to develop new concepts and to deliver creative solutions

- Working experience in the training department, training options available, and differing learning and training styles

- Experience of designing courses, CLT & WBT materials

Technical Skills Expertise

- Proficient in tools such as: Articulate, Captivate, RoboHelp, and Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Uperform, Slide Rocket and Snag-It
