- Will be making investment tax adjustments (monthly/quarterly) - Prepare quarterly STAT/TAX Income Earned and Gain/Loss analysis from reports generated from PAM (or EDS). - Perform reconciliation from source data (PAM or EDS) to Trial Balance. Tax department compares amounts obtained from PAM and STAT trial balance to GL recon reports provided by the Investment Accounting - Prepare tax impairment analysis and complete PAM impairment template - Prepare Derivatives Tax adjustments and reconcile from STAT to Tax - Test the reasonableness of the tax income earned and tax capital gain/loss reports by comparison to the STAT income earned and STAT gain/loss reports. Review investment reports for unusual activity. - Review STAT/GAAP/TAX quarterly investment comparison files for completeness and accuracy and document any unusual activities - Perform internal controls as related to the tax investments - Review weekly sales transactions and new purchases from tax perspectives and adjust PAM sourced data accordingly to ensure tax basis in PAM are accurate - Make adjustments via an FGL adjustment tool (Is this for EDS?) - Detail STAT/TAX/GAAP reconciliation for tax balance sheets under SSAP 101 and ASC 740 (F/K/A FAS 109) - Maintain tax basis of invested assets in Tax Provision Software (Future) - Maintain legal entity capital loss carryover schedule - Track partners- inside and outside tax basis in limited partnerships (alternative investments) - these are currently manually tracked - Tax investment experience Skill sets Needed: - Accounting and Tax (preferred with tax investment knowledge). CPA is not required - Working knowledge in PAM or Tax Provision software is a plus - Strong excel skills - Strong analytical skills - Strong query skills for pulling information from databases. Primary Internal Interactions - Senior Manager/AVP, for the purpose of reporting performance, acting as backup for certain functions, escalation handling, clarifying concerns, seeking support and monthly evaluation of performance - Associates, for the purpose of up-skilling them on process-related updates, coaching, mentoring & providing assistance and support when required Primary External Interactions - Interaction with different business owners from different teams including Investments, Investment Accounting, Tax, Middle Office, FP&A, Financial Operations and Financial Reporting teams
