Job Description Level - Manager / Senior Manager&nbsp; Function - Reinsurance Accounting&nbsp; Reports to AVP Permanent/Temporary - Permanent&nbsp; Span of Control - IC role initially then 2-3 members team size&nbsp; Location - Noida Summary This position will participate in all phases of reinsurance accounting and reporting, from the initial phases of treaty set-up through coordination with third parties, monthly processing and recognition of appropriate assets liabilities, income and expenses items and periodic reporting, including annual statement exhibits and reinsurance related disclosures. Key accountability for this position will be Oracle processing and analysis, reconciliations of account balances, and reinsurance audit support query capabilities. This position will have a key role in maintaining the TAI reinsurance system for monthly automated policy administration system feeds. Other accountabilities include timely and accurate processing information with numerous reinsurers. This position requires the ability to both comply with strong Internal Controls and to recommend added controls where needed within a dynamic department. Organization This position reports to the Director, Reinsurance Accounting. The nature of the position will require working cooperatively with the other accounting and actuarial functions normally involved in the processes and financial analysis of reinsurance in general as well as with the legal department for reinsurance related claims in litigation. Basic and Essential Functions - - Participate in many aspects of reinsurance accounting and reporting, from the initial recording/coding of treaties to weekly/monthly processing and accounting/reporting; - Clearing suspended TAI transactions developed from the monthly data feeds from the policy administration system; - Billing and collection of resisted claims subject to reinsurance; - Work with the manager to facilitate related audits from reinsurers, and for completing audits for reinsurance assumed with 3rd parties; - Timely and accurate reconciliation of reinsurance accounts on a monthly basis, making necessary adjustments as appropriate. - Prepare the accounting and reporting entries and reports for Annuity type and non TAI treaties. - Assist with strategic direction of the Reinsurance Administration Department through active participation in company initiatives, committees and new product implementations. - The individual is required to gain a thorough understanding of the underlying reinsurance processes, the types of treaties and arrangements in place, and be analytical, to self review inputs and products of his/her work. - Accountable for working within predetermined deadlines, and must keep abreast of appropriate developments in financial reporting and reinsurance software. - Perform special projects as assigned. Primary Internal Interactions - Manager for the purpose of reporting performance, escalation handling, clarifying concerns, and seeking feedback and support. - Be the leader for process improvement related to the re-insurance accounting, and monthly financial reporting. Identify and implement strategies for the company to execute its accounting and reporting responsibilities with greater efficiency by automating processes and reducing manual work effort. - Manager for the purpose of settling issues left unresolved by the Assistant Manager and monthly evaluation of performance. - Draft and coordinate the preparation of quarterly/Yearly reinsurance disclosures, and financial statement footnotes. - Peers (team members) for the purpose of seeking co-operation &amp; clarification on process-related matters &amp; providing assistance and support when required Primary External Interactions - Onshore Team Manager and SMEs for daily planning of work and execution of deliverables - Must demonstrate effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills - Strong time management and organization skills - Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment at a rapidly evolving company and industry. - Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally. - Play a key role in global financial and accounting process/policy improvements - Perform ad-hoc management related requests and analysis Organizational Relationships Reports To : Senior Manager / AVP Supervises : NA Skills Technical Skills - Preferred MBA/Chartered Accountant, CPA, CFA or equivalent with 5-9 years- experience in GAAP and US accounting experience - Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. - Comprehensive knowledge and experience with general accounting, reinsurance accounting, month end close procedures, internal reporting &amp; analytics, and working with external auditors - 5+ years of reinsurance accounting, financial reporting, or similarly relevant experience (life insurance industry preferred). - Prior experience at a management level in a global, multi-currency environment. Experience with a Fortune 500/multinational insurance/reinsurance/financial services company is preferred. Process Specific Skills - Should have expert level understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures. - Requires the knowledge and ability to review Journals, reconciliations provide solutions to technical accounting issues and organize projects - Insurance accounting regulatory reporting experience or US GAAP knowledge mandatory. - Ability to understand the significance of various activities in a statutory/GAAP accounting close cycle and deliver results accordingly. Soft skills (Desired) - Must demonstrate effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills - Strong time management and organization skills - Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment at a rapidly evolving company and industry. Soft Skills (Minimum) - Strong computer knowledge including working knowledge of financial based accounting packages, database, spreadsheets and word processing software - TAI reinsurance experience preferred - Strong verbal and writing skills - Strong analytic skills and attention to detail - Highest level of integrity and commitment to achieving goals - Able to produce in a fast-paced environment while addressing projects and responsibilities effectively. Education Requirements - Chartered Accountant/ACCA/CPA/MBA or equivalent with 5 - 9 years- experience. - B.Com with strong practical experience in reinsurance. Work Experience Requirements - 5 - 9 years of experience in reinsurance accounting under US GAAP preferably with an insurance company. - Should have good understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
