Manager/Senior Manager - R&D - FMCG/Food

An extremely large and highly reputed Multinational having its Indian headquarters in Mumbai and manufacturing operations in several Indian states has entrusted us with the selection of a Manager / Sr. Manager - R&D.

Job Purpose:

The Manager - R&D is a part of the team responsible for developing new products. He / she would be required to provide new ideas for product innovations as well as enhancing the existing range of products in the family on the basis of market feedback. He / she is expected to work in sync with the marketing team and develop all aspects of the product, right from concept to delivery of the same, under the guidance and supervision of his supervisor. Key responsibilities will include designing the new product's composition to scaling operations for mass production and process and system documentation.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Develop ideas for new products and enhancing existing products in sync with marketing team

- Thorough understanding of consumers and translate it into new ideas and products keeping in mind the nutritional value of the ingredients (close interaction with nutritionists)

- Expected to develop all aspects of the product creatively utilizing knowledge of latest technology, raw materials and industry knowledge under the guidance of the supervisor

- Lead discussions on Product Management Reviews (PMR) in order to build consensus

- Interpret the legal requirements (Food Safety Act) and designing the product label keeping this in mind

2. Responsible from pilot stage to mass production of the new product

- Write specifications (quality, raw material, packaging material, process) and continuously improving the same

- Jointly work with packaging development to ensure that the shelf life is properly determined

- Liaise with the operations team for new product trials and the success rates

- Create a Process Manufacturing Guide for Operations capturing efficiency and safety consideration on successful completion of pilot stage for scaling product manufacturing to mass production which needs to be authorized by Functional Head

3. Responsible for creating a create a cost effective compositions

- Identify resources for manufacturing product on a mass scale economically, including raw materials, technology

- Identify vendors that would provide raw materials as required (getting a preliminary cost) and developing them (collaborating with them to deliver results)

- Contribute to the Product Management Review (PMR) process with regards to product costing

Qualifications & Experience :

- Post graduate degree in food technology

- 5-15 years of product development experience required post qualifications
