Experience:
8-10 Years hands-on experience in Purchase Dept of preferably Lube Industry and/or Chemicals Industry owning Strategic Sourcing, Commodity Management and Supplier Development
Responsibility:
- and lead execution of sourcing strategy:
- Create a Sourcing commodity strategy comprising all elements of sourcing, with inputs from stakeholders.
- Plan and communicate cost optimization strategy to team and units, to achieve stretch targets.
- Plan sourcing value chain to make available the right material, equipment, etc. on time and at optimal cost.
- Set and publish pricing and purchase guidelines incl. share of business allocation for units.
- Set-up monthly review (KPI, cost improvement projects, price variance, recovery/quality issue resolution) internally and supplier review process /actions
- Build supplier review development and Qualification process to fast-track new parts development to reduce the overall cost.
- Explore and identify strategic options for vendors, transportation, and other key drivers of performance.
- Monitor air/sea/trucking/network optimization guidelines related to freight for timely delivery and best possible Transportation rates.
- Create buy-in from stakeholders and users (SBU Head, Unit Heads) on sourcing strategy and plan; Build stakeholder relationship through periodic visits and field interaction.
- Participate in and actively support organizational Strategic Initiatives
- Handle full process from Procure to Pay.
- Functional leadership and Review
- Initiate, drive and publish periodic, timely MIS comprising key metrics such as;
- When material was procured
- Vendor options considered.
- Vendor's selected
- Vendor development schedules
- Identify and drive process improvement initiatives.
- Drive SOPs across units
- Review vendor schedules, pricing decisions, and lead key/high-value decisions
- Set import vs Domestic sourcing ratios aligned with cost plans and to create flexibility and strategic options.
- Review unit sourcing teams to create alignment, drive collaboration and mitigate issues.
- Review high-value and high-volume inventories and working capital across units.
- Set min-max / optimal inventory limits for units, based on benchmarking / best practices, to optimize working capital.
- Enable team to track and highlight key external trends: demand-supply, freight and pricing, weather, and monsoon. (seasonal) Changes, Etc.
- Review monthly reports with team.
- Plan for Key changes e.g., transition to GST
- Strategic Supplier Development
- Lead and drive a structured, strategic vendor development program:
- Initiate a pilot project/effort to identify and develop vendors.
- Lead key vendor contract negotiations and relationships
- Balance sourcing across vendors, to avoid over-dependence and spread the sourcing risk.
- Standardize vendor database across units, with inputs on vendor experience / performance from units.
- Explore options for transportation and logistics, domestic and overseas.
- Develop indigenous vendors for items that can be developed locally.
- Share stocks with vendors to reduce site storage and inventories.
- Industry - Experience in complex petrochemicals, chemicals, and industrial companies would be preferred.
