Support business growth :

- Performing the monthly Independent Price Verification (IPV) processes for both the firm's structured derivative and vanilla equity products.

- Enable team to undertake more in-depth analysis on our core product portfolios, including establishing link between IPV, P&L attribution and risk.

- Enhance Governance around IPV, including assisting in writing up procedural / guideline documents, identifying best practices and sharing these globally. Interact with other regional valuation controllers and working to implement best practices from other regions.

Core responsibilities of the role include :

- Perform monthly Independent Price Verification (IPV) on the entire Equities portfolio, including Trading portfolio, Derivatives, Liabilities at Fair Value and Available for Sale investments. With a key focus on structured products. This individual will be required to perform the process as well as substantiate the results through challenge and detailed commentary

- Identify areas with low testing coverage and identify testing alternatives to close this gap.

- Review and risk assess Level 3 financial instruments

- Continuously challenging and looking for ways to improve the IPV processes (seeking efficiency and alternative testing methodologies/sources)

- Perform monthly Reserve calculations, including portfolio and specific bid/offer and model reserves. Analyze and challenge the results and prepare detailed commentary on balances and month-over-month movements

- The controller will be responsible for testing involving a variety of portfolios comprising of cash equities, vanilla and exotic options, swaps, ETD's, convertible bonds and a wide variety of structured products. They will also be integral in the identification and resolution of global valuation related issues ranging from those originating within the organisation and from external regulatory bodies

The successful candidate will be expected to have :

- Strong understanding of equity products, especially structured equity derivative products. Strong understanding of valuation inputs, market trends and technical factors impacting pricing of various structured equity derivative products.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical issues in a way that's easy to understand. Specifically to be able to articulate the impact on the organization both in risk and financial statement terms.

- Prior experience working with traders, senior business personnel and market risk is essential.

- Have an understanding of accounting standards impacting valuations and the fair value hierarchy.

- Ability to multitask and work independently.

- Willingness and capability to form own opinion. Strong analytical skills to be able to support own conclusions.

- A strong control mind-set and the willingness to build and maintain a strong control environment.

- Experience working with 'Change the Bank' on process improvement projects (leveraging IT).

Basic Qualifications :

- BS or BA in relevant degree (i.e mathematics, finance, accounting)

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Equities Valuation Control or Product Control role. Specifically experience with structured derivative products.

- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access Skills are essential.

- Strong technical knowledge of Equity Products

Preferred Qualifications :

- MBA

- CPA (or equivalent) and/or CFA preferred but not mandatory
